CAGiversary!
Sadly the last American Virgin Mega Store is going out of business. The store is located at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard in the Hollywood & Highland Shopping Center. Just next door to the Kodak Theatre. As of now discounts range from 30% to %50 off everything in the store. Video Game Consoles, Gaming Accessories, Software, iPods and iPod accessories are all %30 off. Its rare to see consoles and iPods marked down this low. The rest of the store prices vary by department. DVD Movies and Blu-Ray Discs are also 30% off. The store is also selling all their display TVs and store computers. There is also a large selection of clothing, bags and gear, vinyl record albums, graphic novels and books.

Sadly, with Los Angeles tax being 9.25%, that means most of these games are really only about 20% off and I don't know of a single title they are selling which hasn't been or isn't cheaper somewhere else. Just like Circuit City, this won't be a deal until it hits at least 50% off and even then, I doubt there will be much worth picking up.

Just went there tonight (3rd time since sale started).
Games are 30% off, but there's some bonus sale where everything in the store gets an additional 10% off. That's not 40% off, it's Price - 30% = New price - 10%. Not as good as 40% but still decent.
Picked up RE 5 360 for $38. Got Resistance PSP for 20% off a week ago. Still a decent amount of stock left, but lots of overpriced things. Only really worth it for games that are still fetching full retail everywhere else.

No Xbox Live Arcade cards, but they do have Wii point cards. However, they're priced at $25. Minus 30% then another 10% + LA tax, they're a little over $17. Still decent. Would've picked some up, had I not bought some off eBay recently.

Lots of common games but awesome deals to be found.

80GB PS3 for $270. DS Lites for $100. PSP 2000+3000 at 40% off. BTW Software price stickers are deceptive. Bought a copy of Secret Agent Clank. Stickered at $39, rang up at $13.

Hundreds of Wii nunchucks. They'll never sell that stuff. Big piles of Rockband 2. That stuff will be around for a while.

And you have to pay $2 for the privilege of parking there.

Its not like you wouldn't be taxed if you bought the game at retail. So it is actually 30% off.

I always factor tax into what I pay for my games because it's actual money. Considering there is no tax on Amazon, free shipping and usually games are at least 5% off plus the 10% off most of us get with ECA, there really is no reason to pay anywhere close to retail for any game. Similarly, many other on-line retailers don't charge CA tax, so I can't imagine wasting my money on this lame "sale".

Consoles are now sold out. They still have DS Lite and PSP units in stock. Software is still quite abundant. iPods are still in stock along with portable DVD players.

Discounts should hit 50% sometime this week. However with the massive amount of foot traffic in the store I'm not sure the good stuff will last that long. According to the staff the store is set to close in early June. Discounts should be fairly heavy in the coming weeks.

Games are now 70% off. There are still some decent DS titles to be found. A couple of the big name Pokemon games. Also there are still a few decent Xbox 360 titles. (Command & Conquer 3 normally $30, now 70% off)

As of 6:00pm this afternoon there were also 3 Rockband 2 PS2 bundles.

I acquired Tenchu Shadow Assasins for Wii for $15. (down from $60), and a couple of $20 DS games for $6 a piece.

Faceplates still remain. Wii energizer battery packs, tons of CD and DVDs, lots of bluray. They say this is the last week.

I was there this afternoon and I still couldn't find any amazing deals even at 70% off. They had a few newer 360 games like Stormrise and HAWX, but even at 70% off, they are still around $20 each with tax. Most of what they had will be available cheaper within a few months on Amazon and other retailers anyway, so it's not really worth dealing with the hassle and mess at the store. Heck, NewEgg sells Tenchu for $15 with free shipping, so you could have saved the $2 you spent on parking.

Thanks for the update. Was just wondering if the place was still in business. I may have to swing by again there soon.

Games are at 80% now. A lot of real junk titles, there is only one side of a display shelving unit left. I picked up Stormrise for $12 and Shellshock 2 for $10 for 360. Plenty of copies of both left, but the other stuff is mostly kids or movie license stuff. Little or no PS3 left other than some old sports titles and the only Wii stuff was copies of HSM Senior Dance and maybe a Sing It title. A lot of old DS junk titles and a few older PSP titles for $4 each, but I passed on them. Not worth a trip, but if you're in the area, you might want to stop by.

I was there on Thursday the 11th, and they said it was the last 4 days. Thus, I'm pretty sure it's done.
As bojay -- who I'm surprised kept going back even though he ripped on it in 3 previous posts -- said, game stock was next to nothing. I grabbed Metal Saga PS2 for $15 and Gunpey PSP for about $6. Music and DVDs were plentiful, but it was a madhouse and disorganized. I also nabbed 8 CDs, Tim & Eric season 2 DVD, Hancock Blu-ray, and some Rock Band drum mufflers -- all for under $100. Worth the trip for me.

I live and work literally a few blocks from Hollywood and Highland. They were always overpriced, right up until the end. I'm not sad to see the store go, although I do feel bad for the employees.

Does that mean you were tempted by the California Pizza Kitchen weird closed-coupon promotion, too? That stuff was marketing genius!
By the way, the store across the way -- which sells Affliction and Ed Hardy shirts -- had a 50% off everything sale last time I was there. I picked up a couple of nice shirts.
