Tip of the hat to zoro69 for this one. Didn't see a thread for it, and it's big enough to merit its own thread so people don't miss it.

Zellers is currently having a 2/$30 sale, ending on the 30th. Normally this isn't news, since they stick to clearance titles for sales like this, but there are some big names in it this time, including Far Cry 2. I had a hard time believing this, even after seeing photos of a receipt, but I just got back from my lunch break where I picked up Far Cry 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for PS3. They were both locked up and labeled as $59.99. When they rang them up, the total came to $30. This only happened after both games had been scanned and totaled.

Sale flyer is here: http://zellers.flyerservices.com/ca...468-4273-afbf-c3cd9607f1f6_101_Z853P06_ON.jpg (bottom right; doesn't have any info on titles, though, so odds are the flyer itself will be of little use)
i bit the bullet and picked up two more copies today...still over 10 left on the last day. it was a nice surprise to see the tiv higher than yesterday.

in the end, i got 5600 ms points for ~$40. no complaints there.
why didnt ya get some more :p

dang, like 10 copys eh?..... my zellers suck!
Plenty in copies in Guelph, but they didn't scan at $30. :(
Thanks for the heads up!!

Also which locations did you check out???

Stopped in at the Zellers at Centrepoint. What a horrible crapfest that was:

- Buzzing florescent lights
- Out of tune radio playing Tayor Hicks
- People who don't seem to grasp the concept of "walk around someone instead of into them"
- A gigantic gaping vortex where any worthwhile game used to be

And the creme-de-la-creme of the trip was the guy at the tech counter arguing with the cashier, going on and on about how during the holiday season, they were selling VHS tapes for $.99, and now they're $2.49, so they should give them to him at the lower price because they should look at his HBC credit card and see he's a customer of here and see, he's a reasonable guy and since The Source has VHS for less than them they should give him a deal.

And since the remote control he bought from them came with batteries that weren't fully charged, they should give him free batteries, because its their responsibilty to check every product they sell to make sure the batteries are fully charged because otherwise they should be ashamed of themselves for selling a battery that isn't fully charged.

{sigh}

^ i rarely see people like that, although my mother's shop got threatened to get sued because this lady "tripped" in front of my mother's store. she told that she would not sue if we would give her 200 dollars for her ruined hair, shoes and other mumbo-jumbo she could think of.

just thought i'd share about that. althought its not related. i hate working retail.

{sigh}

no no, we got a mail from her lawyer, you know the old "slip-and-fall" kind of thing. usually when you get involved in those kind of cases, you don't lose much, but she ended up giving up because it wasn't worth it. we did have to pay for our lawyer tho.
LOL, imagine if she called the police, " i tripped and she wont give me 200 dollars for my ruined cloths and hair!!"

Stuff like that doesn't happen much in Canada. I would have let her sue - depending on the costs of your lawyer. Screw that - represent your self, it'll get thrown out of a real court.

Huh are you sure it was here in Canada, I though those kind of stupid thing was only in the USA...

Ohhh let me guess the leday is AMERICAN ahahahahahaha, you should have told here that here in Canada we dont do those thing

Figured I'd hit Zellers Square One one last time yesterday to see if there were any last copies of FC2 before they went up to full price. Found one copy there, and tried to remember what any other games to match it with were. Ended up getting FC2 and GRAW2.

Thanks again OP!
did u walk in with both copies?
Yeah I did, unfortunately I learned the hard way that they wont take any if you have more than one. I figured they would not of hassled me if I showed them my bill but he still denied me. He told me they still could be stolen or even if I did buy them it would be considered _______ transfer ( I don't remember exactly what he said) .Luckily FS had no problem with me trading over both my copies at the same time.

i just went to the zellers wesite to see the flyer. you would not guess how much correction notices they put out if you go through the flyer.

....holy shit, no wonder zellers is going downhill...

Well, cheers to there down-hill-y-ness. Works great for us CAGs.:applause: Just hope they stay in business long enough to continue making mistakes!

hmmm is this deal still on? i might try and run to see if i can get a couple more copies for trade-in at FS or EBGames before Zeller's closes.

For what it's worth, the correction notices were all correcting prices that were too high. Worst case scenario they overcharge the customer :p
For what it's worth, the correction notices were all correcting prices that were too high. Worst case scenario they overcharge the customer :p
Yeah, I see correction notices all the time at work and it's all "Sorry for the inconvenience but the price is actually lower!"

Of course if the company wasn't so stupid as to put out incorrect flyers and signs in the first place maybe they'd get some friggin sales.

Dude that shit happens all the time, actually today we had this lady who got free headphones and a case for her iPod during a special we had going on. She comes back... more than a month later and she goes:

"The case and headphones... my son doesn't like them, I want to return these and I want you to give me the full credit (meaning full retail value) for them! I shop here so I have the right to do so. I want to buy another case and it should be deducted from the credit you give me, the rest I want in cash. [she drove away in her SUV, total soccer mom -kathos]

This is all while yelling at the customer service girl, the mp3 guy, the general manager and dragging her infant son while following anyone with khakis and black shirt to yell at them saying it's unfair to not give her full credit for something she got for free and something else for free.

Hell the other day this guy told me he doesn't trust any warranties (even manufacturer) and that if anything ever happened he'd have his son, who through magic, knows all about "these games machines" and "good with electronics" and he'd "fix it".

Trust me bro, it happens a lot.

And I think everyone who works in retail here in CAG will agree:

98% of people are fucking *&%@# morons that need to be killed. The other 2% are gamers and people with no credit debt.

I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER FOR 40 YEARS!
YOU USED TO BE A GOOD COMPANY!

godfucking dammit no i will not accept a refund for this item from 1 year ago. and no you cannot come back next week wearing something different and expect me not to recognize you, your product, and your receipt.

This is why I refuse to work any managerial position in retail: I'm content to be a "drone" who asks the manager for approval of anything out of the ordinary. Retail supervisors have no power and don't get paid enough for the abuse they get from customers.

EDIT: according to RFD, it still scans in at 2/30 at Zellers.

interesting. that's tempting

So does anyone can confirm that the deals is still on? I might go back to a Zellers and get more copy of FC2 to trade them in at FS ;-).

Just looking around at RFD forums and looks like the deal is dead. A few people went today and tried but FC2 was ringing up at normal price. Was awesome while it lasted, sort of wish I had the time to go last night to get a couple more copies for trade bait. Oh well, watching GSP rock BJ Penn was fun as hell.

huh, ^ i was ganna go today after i went to eb, but i gave up cuz i got 70 bux (RE4) and 49 bux for trading all my games :p now i only have orange box and uncharted. haha.

but damn... i wanted to get far cry 2 for 15 bux.... its my kind of game.

Looks like everyone already posted. Tried to pick some up today, rang in at normal price. Oh well, definitely worth it while it lasted
