Sadie--thanks for the info, though I'm not too much of a history buff to see the Alamo. X3 I woulnd't mind seeing the wildlife though.
NP. The Alamo is right in the middle of San Antonio, the city built around it. Ask your family to come down when you graduate. They'll enjoy the RiverWalk. You can walk along the San Antonio river and shop/eat at restaurants. They have lots of fountains and everything is very nice looking. My brother was at Lackland and we went to see him - about 5 years ago. We are both Army brats.
San Antonio is a really nice city, just don't drive outside of it. If you have the chance, do visit the Alamo, it's very interesting. The small little canal that the settlers used for water, is now filled with Koi. I thought that was cool.
The jackrabbits on base have huge ears (I'm from Ohio so I'm used to the rather small eastern cottontail rabbits). Well jackrabbits are actually hares, but I thought they were funny just because they were different looking and very skittish.
At Fort Sam Houston (Army Base) they have wild peacocks, geese, and deer on base. I don't know if you would be able to get in, but just a FYI.
