HOLY CRAP ON A CRAP CRACKER!

Congrats! I'm a veteran and can tell you the Air Force is a country club. Well, compared to the other branches that is, lol. Give us an update after you finish basic.

congrats. 6weeks is all? When I went through baasic in army was 9weeks followed by AIT with no time inbetween. Best of luck to you
You sound like someone who's been through this Rallen. Any other tips?
I think me and jlarlee are the only other Airmen here. He's at Barksdale, and I'm at Sheppard.

The biggest things you can do before going to basic are:

- Try to get in shape. They'll have your butt running a lot.

- Learn to fold towels and clothes and beds really well. Believe it or not, but this could be the single-most important thing in getting through basic training.

- Don't wear an Air Force shirt when going to basic. They don't consider you into the Air Force until you graduate, so that will cause you some unneeded attention.

- They are probably going to ask people several questions at the beginning. Like "Who likes to keep things really clean?" or "Who's good at bowling?" When your TIs ask you this, just keep quiet. They are setting a trap and will make the person who answers the latrine queen. They are in charge of keeping the bathrooms spotless - a job that's nearly impossible.

- Don't bring anything with you that will cause you to get in trouble. One guy in our flight brought his entire collection of porn and a warhammer with him. He said he lived with his sister and had to bring all of his belongings. That didn't go over so well.

- Overall, just try to keep quiet and don't bring attention to yourself. It would be best if the TI didn't even know your name. I ended up getting honor grad at basic by doing this very same thing. Just do your work, and you will be okay.

There's a whole buncha other stuff I could tell you about Basic, but I gotta head off to work. Anyway, congrats and hope ya like the Air Force.

Great now when I get home I have to watch the movie again. You just can't read a line like that and not want to hear it.
