So I got my new slim yesterday after trading in my launch PS2. I got a blue bottom disc read error and some grinding noise so I figured it would be a good time to upgrade.

Anyway I knew this system was smaller but I didn't know it was tiny! I put it back on the shelf where my old PS2 was next to my Gamecube and its as if my gamecube dwarfs this thing!
When you first see it you kinda assume it's a joke and can't really play games compared to the original.
Yeah it is almost laughable. I think it may even be smaller than the PSone.

Yeah, I just got one last week and I was surprised as well. What scared me was when I placed it beside my Xbox...

Your XBOX must look like Godzilla next to that thing!

Yes, it looked like Godzilla next to Optimus Prime. Of course, Godzilla could kick Optimus Prime's ass any day. :)

If you're going by total volume I think it is smaller.

Yes by total volume...I know the PS2 is a little longer but man is that thing slim!

I bought the vertical stand for it - you wouldn't believe the places you can put it when you stand it upright.

This is from IGN's hands-on with the sucker back in October. I still think it's a funny pic.

My mini-PS2 hasn't overheated yet. And yeah it can break easily, if you use it as a frisbee.

Yeah, like people have been saying, you know its going to be small but it still suprises you. Right now its sitting on top of my xbox but I usually have it vertical between my xbox and tv. The door just barely clears the xbox when you open it, so that cool.

You can do great things when your products sells enough to make it viable to re-engineer it with newer technology. Which is how strong platforms stay strong.

In a way it is history repeating itself. I cannot find a good side by side picture online but the difference between the original Atari 2600 and the much later Junior model that was functionally idenitical is equally striking. Nowadays, using the latest technology, you could make a 2600 embedded in a business including a set of games and a battery good for several months operation. The biggest power drain would be providing a signal strong for a TV to use. nobody is going to spend the small fortune to make such an item but it is doable.

I keep my tiny PS2 stood up vertically (no stand) against a shelf wall. The NES is right next to it, the height is just right so the PS2 door just barely clears the NES when it swings open. If I want an extra-secure fit I just stuff a game case between the NES and the PStwo after I shut the door (can't put the NES right against the PS2 because the a/v cables get in the way).

I too was dumbounded at the tininess when I first opened it... I didn't even consider that I would be able to stand it vertically on that shelf, so I was shocked when it fit right in.

I wouldn't mind trading for it I have fat ps2(the last model before the change) is in excellent shape(still have box, paper work and all)
But I don't know if your joking or not...
