The Big Day

After a few long days of packing/trashing stuff, the day has finally come. Thanks to great efforts from CheapyMom & Dad, we were able to get moved out of our apartment. Without their help, we would have likely been awake until 4am.

We'll be staying a hotel for the next week while we furnish our apartment with the latest space products from the future. I'm looking forward to getting the CAGs opinions during our shopping spree (on Mrs. Cheapys' companies tab)! Since we shipped very little stuff, we have most of the relocation allowence available for new purchases. Its gonna be awesome!

Yesterday (Monday 10/17) was my last at work.
My co-workers threw a little going away party for me which included a few Kirins. We already had the official going-away party early this month, which consisited of $10/person all you can sing karaoke for 5 hours and $26 all you can eat Japanese buffet.

Everyone seems really excited for me and are looking forward to being guests at the Hotel Cheapy Tokyo. Even the President of the non-profit organiazation I work(ed) at told me he was jealous.

Its pretty amazing to me that very soon I will be "living the dream", working on CAG full time, and having all kinds of advertures in Japan. The possibilities are only limited by my (and your) imagination. I will quite literally be Your Man In Japan!

With less than two weeks left, there is a ton of packing/trashing to do between now and then. Additionally, we are moving the CAG server this week. So yeah, lots to do and not much time left in the USA.


Why am I moving to Japan?
Mrs. CheapyD got a great job and it requires us to move to Tokyo. Its basically an offer we can't refuse. I will still be able to run CAG from Japan and now I will be able to work on CAG full time. You can also likely expect new additions/features and possibly a new CAG sister website as I become Your Man In Japan.
Fear not! The focus of CAG will always be cheap video games.

No, what I mean is what is CheapyD going to do with all those systems and such that he owns. I already knew about the games but I know that isn't all the games that CheapyD has.

Getting a a japanese citizenship is absurdly difficult, you also have to give up your present citizenship (in this case american).

Stuff like this cracks me up, people think that just because he has this site he must own mountains of systems from all over the world.

He lives in an apartment in Manhatten that is no bigger than a bathroom in your average Burger King. Excluding the handicapped stall. He has no room for extra stuff.

FYI, Japan uses 110v AC and NTSC.

If you're flying out on Halloween, I'd suggest not dressing up in costume. The big bald head would be scary enough w/o a costume. ;)

i believe it was the vapors...i just love the useless music trivia that resulted from growing up with mtv in the 80's

and on a side note, living in a foreign country can be fun...it's just like vincent vega says...it's the little things that you notice. my advice is enjoy all the things you can before you move...i'd kill for land o lakes butter, honey wheat bread, peter pan honey roasted peanut butter, digiorno pizza, taco bell (you never realize how much you take certain products for granted)

also, you never realize how cheap everything is in the states until you go grocery or dvd shopping...

I have always wanted to go to Japan. Actually I have wanted to live their sorta All the stuff I have seen of it looks very cool. Only problem with going to Japan the only thing I can do is order sushi in Japanese and say thank you. So if i go over I won't starve but other necessities would be lacking.
