Holy Zoinks...Two Grey and One Gold Nintendo World Championships games on Craigslist

Oh man, I wonder if someone actually got that one in Germantown for a decent amount since it doesn't seem like the guy knows its true value.

$500,000 for Stadium events, even if it is a pretty well graded copy, is asinine.

No serious collector would drop NWC money just based off a picture on Craigslist. They can be and have been reproduced and made to look 100% authentic. The NES collectors community has a pretty tight grip on the NWC carts, and while there are sill a FEW of them unaccounted for, the odds are that the ones that aren't already in collectors hands were probably destroyed and lost forever.

It's not like they ended up in the hands of the general public, 90 of them went to regional winners of the NWC, 26 of them went to Nintendo Power contest winners and that's it. 103 of them are known to be in collectors hands, and 13 of them may still be out there, but if they haven't been found by now, then they're probably gone for good. Just google the name DreamTR, anyone serious in the collectors community should be familiar with him and his collection of prototypes, obscurities, and rarities.

If this guy is serious, he needs more than just a picture of himself holding the cart. He needs a convincing backstory on how he came into possession of it beyond "It was in my cousins basement". Your cousin wouldn't just have the game, he would have had to have won it somehow, which would be documented and could be traced, so good luck trying to sell it.

This story pretty much lays out the sorted history of these stupid overpriced gold and gray cartridges:

Damn good and informative post, dude.

weird, that milwaukee one was posted in electronics too. I would guess it's someone trying to scam, knowing how shitty milwuakee craigslist is.

I HATE people that put $1 in the title. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. Put the actual price you want or don't put anything, Jesus.

Why? It doesn't matter if you put an actual price and put the word FIRM in giant flashing letters that are six inches high. Idiots on Craigslist will immediately see the price, ignore the word FIRM and think 'I can haggle them down to nothing' and offer you half(or less) of the price you posted.

At least with putting a random amount in, you may get one of the VERY rare people who just agree to pay whatever price is listed without trying to knock you down, kick you in the balls, give you a reacharound and then shove a corn cob up your ass and tell you to like it.

Case in point: Most recent dealing I had on CL. I'm selling a shitton of used game cases. So the one guy about an hour from me has a posting looking for used DVD cases. Actually my one friend on CAG messaged me telling me about the ad. So I figured 'eh what the hell'.

So first off, he says he needs 200 cases. Awesome, I think. Here's the kicker: He wants them for essentially $.10 each AND wants me to drive to him to deliver the motherfuckers.

Yeaaaahhh. That ain't happening. That 'generous' cash offer was AFTER he kept offering me DVD's and Blu-Rays in trade for them(and probably STILL woulda wanted me to drive to him to hand deliver them:roll:).

That's why anymore I just post ads on CL for shits n giggles. Matter of fact, maybe I'll post a trolling ad saying I have about 30-50 'rare' games for various systems and snicker at the lowball offers I get for them.

Eh, selling game cases locally sounds like a headache no matter how you cut it; I've gotten them for free from people throwing them out, on rare occasions I might pay a quarter or fifty cents if I'm feeling charitable.

They don't even have to put $1, sometimes dummies will put the wrong price then say they want more in the description.

I immediately scan over flaky people, not worth my time.
