Home Beta Signups Are Out
Check your PSN Store. I just finished downloading it.
Well, shit!

Did you get that initial email?

I got the "you didn't get in this week, but more openings are coming" email the night that the beta first opened. That was the only email I rec'd from them.

Can you guys give some impressions when you get the chance? I'm really curious about it...

It's pretty neat; the avatar options are a lil' slim as of yet, but I have a blonde facial-hairless version of me that's otherwise somewhat accurate.

The game room is interesting. Bowling is a bit fun to play, and you can socialize at the same time. Bowling controls are on the wonky side, but you get used to them. The arcade games are kinda bleh thus far. Pretty much barebones "newgrounds" caliber stuff, though the racing game has a bit of an RC Pro-Am feel to it (without all the shit on the track).

The theater is cool - you can walk around to different rooms, and each marquee says what is inside (Lair video, GoW2 video, and movie trailers).

I haven't decorated my "homespace" yet, but when I do, I'll post impressions of that.

At least I get to play the beta of *something* today, since that Crackdown shit isn't working still.

Ill give someone Tekken for Home.

Please?

I'd enjoy it very much, and id post in depth coverage of the whole thing. I have no life give me atleast home!
How does one "swap" downloadable games?

BTW, if anyone is thinking about PMing me to make an offer, don't.
Oh, I'm so going to PM you now.

As far as the game swap thing goes, I'll tell you how it works in this purely, nothing more than, hypothetical situation:

I go into my account and erase any stored credit card information I may have. After that I change my password to something temporary. I then PM you my login information and you use it to download Calling All Cars. You then follow the same steps I made for my account and I download something available on your account; let's say some new and exciting beta. I don't know, could be anything.

Thanks, sounds like it looks. :) are lots of people around? how do servers work? MMO-style?

also, do you notice being buggy or anything since it's in early beta?

I was going to offer you $500 in unmarked bills for a download, but I'll respect your wish to not be bothered

protip!: If you visit someone else's house DO NOT attempt to change their photos on the wall, or else THEIR house will overwrite YOUR house. I lost all my work. So then I just spawned a shitload of furniture down the stairs in a giant pile in protest.

Bug or feature?

Has anyone here sucessfully or know of someone, game shared Home?

I managed to get a copy and install it, but at the start screen when I try to accept the terms of use, I get a connection error.
It says it times out and can't connect the online world.

Anyone else heard of a similar problem? Is there a support page, or contact email I could write to?

I got in.
So the way to get in the Home beta is just by getting a random email and not having to sign up for anything?
Basically, for closed beta at least. Once open hits, you'll be able to sign up via the website. Word is Closed is ending this month so hopefully we'll see Open soon...

>>>Oh yah and make sure you're signed up on the playstation site and have your PS3 registered.

home is pretty cool but gets old fast.. i wonder how much they plan to add on to this to make it more customizable...

is there any indication as to when this will go live? im wondering how long this beta will be..

few comments:

i hope the theatre is constantly updated with interesting things... the same spiderman 3 trailer playing in the lobby needs to go...

voice chat needs some work...

the central lounge needs something more as there really isnt anything to do there...but i guess its just meant to sit around.

i hope we get to add our own personal pics to our home or something...im sure we will be able to add a tv or something...

the psp menu is bad ass...

in the end/..the concept is pretty cool though...

it looks like i had a fatal error and now my home wont start...i may have to reinstall...gay

the select = friends list = gold

I like bowling and pool with other people and it has a lot of features. Still limiting, doesn't even let you have tv in the beta.

Honestly, you're not missing a whole lot at the moment. Most of the cool stuff you saw Phil demoing aren't in it yet. Also it has a tendancy to lock up often. It's very much a beta.

neat... I still want in...

I think I'd be all over it unlike people here. When I played FFXI, my main obsession was not leveling up or getting rare items but more like get all the best and nicest furnature I could find and create a great room.

That's actually what I was looking forward to as well. The thing is there aren't many options for furniture yet. That being said, my room is pretty kickass...

Well if what was said is true, August is the month for open beta. I don't see it until the last week or so personally, but hey they might surprise me (and not have an open at all bwahaha!). Anyway, if anyone starts to hear more chatter in the coming days let us know.
