Hoorah - Metal Slug 12/14
Can you use the classic controller
nope. You can use Gamecube controllers, but not the Dpad, for some unknown reason. the default set up is great though. you hold the wiimote like a nes controller and tap it on your hand to throw grenades.

metal slugs 6 looks blurry and yes no flash on boss hits..(why) it left me confuse at first, feel like a last thought game, but overall the the anthology is good!

yeah, it looked kinda dim on my TV.
Was Metal Gear 6 that way in the arcade?
oops...

MGS on the brain? don't worry, it's a disease.

As for the anthology, I'm to lazy to go out and buy it. I own metal slug 1-5 and x in their original format (MVS) so I have no desire really since I'd only be getting 6 out of the deal. Although, If I ever decide to buy a wii, I would still probably get the game just because.
Really? They seem to stay at MSRP forever as far as I've seen. The only (semi-)dip in value is in the secondary market.

This is a little off topic, but does anyone know if the Java cellphone version of Metal Slug is a port of any of the games or an original?
i THINK it was a port. I had the game back when i had sprint...which was like 2 years ago, the game was fun enough for $5. The thing that made me mad was my phone messed up so i needed a new one, and i was told id have to buy the freaking games over. Thats when i realized id never play games on a phone again.
Nah, all the Metal Slug's released in the US so far this generation have seen a ton of clearance prices across the board.

I doubt the Wii will clearance any time soon though since there aren't too many games for the Wii right now and people will get this regardless.
In regards to Wii clearances, I don't know if you're right

The most recent console launches, the 360 and the PSP both had discounted games within the first two to three months
I tried to use my Soul Calibur 2 NGC Arcade stick on this and it didn't work. Did I just have bad luck or does the SC2 arcade stick not work on the wii ?
Even though it's compatible with the GC controller, it only works with the analog stick. It does not read signals from the GC's dpad, which is likely what your SC2 Arcade Stick is trying to send.
yes unfortunately.
That a good thing in my case because this is one of the few games that my wife plays with me so having infinite continues is a must. I'll be picking it up soon.

got this thing for xmas .... loving every minute of it. Though I do use the GC controller for it though because I'm awful at flicking the remote for gernades and living at the same time lol

Wow, I can't believe how much the controls truly ruined this collection. Even with all the control options, there is one thing that bugs me about each one.

The two best seem to be the default Wii controls and the GC controller. The Wii controls are fine other than the whole "flicking the remote" to throw a grenade part. Totally ruins the Wii controls for me. GC seems ok, but I just cannot get used to the analog joystick.

Great collection, horrible controls. This one'll be on eBay or CAG soon. Here's to hoping the PS2 version comes out.

Ha Ha, thanks for posting how to throw a grenade. I had no clue how to do it (I have only played 1 level of the first one). I guess I could read the instructions.

I'm also waiting for the PS2 version of that. I hope they fix the hitflashes since it just feels... wrong to not have them. Obviously, controls aren't an issue with the PS2 like they are with the Wii. Even the GC controller feels horrible for this game.

I know, I'm hoping for hitflashes in the PS2 version as well. I've never played a MS game before this collection, so I'm not familiar with weak points in the bosses.]
Is this worth a purchase with the Gamepro BB coupon? Makes it $30 I believe.
I would say for $30, it's a great game and you pick it up. If you have someone else to play it with, it's a blast. If you have played Metal Slug before and enjoy it, pick this up. The only thing that some people don't like about this game are the controls. If you use the default Wiimote controlls, you have to sort of flick the remote on your hand. This causes you to basically stop everything you are doing (shooting, moving, aiming) and you can be easily killed. Personally, it doesn't really bother me that much as it feels more realistic to throw a grenade that way, but you can use the Gamecube controller if you don't like it or one of the other controls.
