I figured a top 5 would be easy. How about a top 10? Dont be afraid to go retro!

Does Marvel vs Capcom count? I was thinking X-men Legends, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Infamous, Crackdown, The Punisher (Genesis), X-men 2 (Genesis), Spiderman Separation Anxiety, well I can only think of 8 for now

Batman Arkham Assylum (I have not played Arkham City yet)
X-Men Legends 2
Spider-Man 2
Marvel Ultimate Allance
Spider-Man and Venom in Maximum Carnage

I'm not sure If I count Crackdown as a Super hero game or not. I'd Also add Hulk Ultimate Destruction as an honorable mention.

Not in any particular order

1- Batman Arkham Asylum
2- Batman Arkham City
3- Spiderman ps1 neversoft
4- x-men next dimension
5- TMNT the arcade game(NES version had extra levels)
6- TMNT turtles in time reshelled edition
7- Batman animated series gameboy game
8- x-men arcade game
9- marvel super heroes power of the gems? ps1
10- wolverine 360/ps3

I'll only be able to list what I've played, which isn't a huge amount.

1 Batman Arkham Asylum
2 Marvel Ultimate Alliance
3 Freedom Force
4 Spider-Man 3
5 Lego Batman
6 X-Men arcade game
7 Marvel vs Capcom series
8 Sonic Blast Man (both arcade and SNES version, for different reasons)

Owned, but still need to play: Infamous, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich

Batman: Brave & the Bold needs to be on every Top 10 superhero game list. Same with Lego Batman and Batman: AA and AC. Some really great Batman games out there recently. I also love Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. If you are counting fighters, X-Men vs. Street Fighter was great too.

I thought Lego Batman was once of the two worst lego games.

Top of my list would be X-Men the arcade game.

X-Men:COTA for starting the whole Capcom fighting games, X-Men vs SF.

Shattered Dimensions get my vote for best Spidey, but I'll admit to not having played too many.

Batman: AA, while good, doesn't really stands out for me.

Oh, I do remember liking the old NES Batman.

Listed from best to worst (but that doesn't mean that any of them are bad):

Spider-Man (Playstation 1)
Batman Arkham City
Marvel Super Heroes
Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Batman: Arkham City
X-Men Legends 2
Ultimate Spider-Man
Batman: Brave and the Bold
Spider-Man 2
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

It was one of the first ones (if not the first one) so it isn't as polished and the graphics look a little last-gen but I thought it was still pretty great. Lots of challenge to find everything - plus this game has a TON of characters to unlock and playing as the villains was also great. I don't know... I loved it I guess but to each their own.

My biggest problem with it was that there were too few variations of characters. I didn't care about the graphics, as I have played every lego game so far (80%+ complete in HP5-7). It was either batarang or super strength. The Batman/Robin suits, Poison Ivy, Joker, and Riddler were like the only unique ones.

It came after the first two Star Wars games, and resembles those games a bit, tho you don't have the part where you have to build your own character with "dark powers" like in Star Wars. My son has a blast with the game and I enjoyed it as well.

I love superhero games, even the shitty ones I get a kick out of. My favorite is probably Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Beat that game 3 times. Wolverine: Origins was my biggest surprise (considering how much I hated the movie) Once I unlocked his comic book skins that 90's X-Men theme played in my head and it was bliss. Other games off the top of my head:

Newer Stuff
Batman Asylum & City (duh)
Spidey: Shattered Dimensions
Ultimate Spider-Man
Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
X-Men Legends 1&2
Capcom vs games

Older Stuff
X-Men Arcade
Captian America & The Avengers Arcade
X-Men Mutant Apocalypse (SNES)
X-Men (GEN) (I remember getting stuck on that Mojoworld bullshit where you have to reset your system)
Batman (NES)
Batman & Robin (from the animated series, SNES)
Spider-Man vs The Kingpin (Sega CD)

1. Batman: Arkham Asylum
2. Spider-Man 2 (rare movie-based game that doesn't suck)
3. Marvel Ultimate Alliance
4. Batman: Arkham City
5. Infamous
6. Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
7. X-Men Legends
8. Spider-Man (PS1)
9. X-Men (Arcade)
10. X-Men Legends II

I tried to stick to Marvel/DC characters.

1. Batman: Arkham Asylum (X360/PS3) - Perfect Batman game
2. Marvel Ultimate Alliance (X360/PS3) - Legends Expanded with better graphics
3. X-Men: Legends (Xbox/PS2) - Preferred over X-men Arcade as my co-op beat-em up of choice
4. Spider-Man 2 (Xbox/PS2) - Best web-slinging simulation
5. Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction (Xbox/PS2) - Ultimate Destruction...
6. The Punisher (Xbox/PS2) - Good story, interrogations and solid gameplay. Cameo by Iron Man.
7. X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse (SNES) - Great single player beat-em up, w/Capcom style special moves.
8. The Punisher (Arcade) - Blowing people up as Frank or Nick Fury, better controls than most arcade brawlers.
9. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (X360/PS3) - Great presentation of powers, glitchy as hell.
10. X-men (Arcade) - Pure nostalgia and 6 player co-op.

Have yet to play:
Wolverine: Origins
Batman: Arkham City
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions
Scott Pilgrim vs The World (I don't know a soul that actually read these comics)

Questionable/Honorable Mentions:
Alien vs Predator (Arcade)
Freedom Force (PC) is awesome!
X-men/Marvel vs...

Really depends on what we are talking about here. They aren't comic book characters, but the Agents in Crackdown are clearly superheroes. They possess superhuman strength, speed, and leaping ability. They remind me of a Golden Age Kal-L...with guns. They also populate a colorful world with over-the-top villains (at least, in the first game).

Of course, if we expand the definition of superhero like that, just about every game is a superhero game, because so many game characters possess superhuman abilities.
