How are you going to get the money for an Xbox 360?

el bobo

CAGiversary!
I'm just curious to see how people will cough up the $300-$??? that it will cost at the launch of the console.
I already have $500 pocket money but I'm getting a job in the summer that will hopefully make about $300 for my wallet and $700 for my bank account. My parents are willing to pay $100 for it, because I'm going to be giving my Xbox to my brother when he goes away to college next year. Well, that is my plan what's yours?

Just keep on working and saving some money. I doubt I will buy any system at launch though, I'll still have a backlog of games to play at that time not to mention what other new games come out for any systems I already have. Hopefully I'll just get it for free from the Gratis Internet sites, thats what I did for the DS which was something I otherwise would not have bought. Sounds like you already have a good start el bobo, and getting $100 for your Xbox is definitely going to be a lot better than any offer "deals" stores like EB will come up with at the 360 launch.

Hey thanks, I just hope the 360 has a decent launch and the games aren't $59.99.

My Toys R US Visa card gives me a 1% rebate on all purchases in the form of TRU store credit and all of my monthly bills are paid through it except for gasoline purchases. I have another card that gives a 5% rebate on gas purchase, so I have to use that.

For TRU instore purchases the card gives 5% back in store credit. I currently have $40 in credit built up since using the last batch on PSP games. By the time Xbox 360 launches I should around $100, so that is a big ways toward the system cost.

I also have a mypoints.com account that should be ready to pay off again around that time. It'll just be $20 in TRU credit but every bit helps. If you'd care to try the mypoints stuff use my name here as the reference. It takes a good while to build up points without buying stuff but it is genuinely free and without any obligations. The worst part is just clicking on emails to show you've seen them. You may actually find something worth buying but I rarely have over the years. In that time I've collected about $200 in TRU credit from them.

the xbox 360 is not comming out for (roughly) 6 months. if you put away $15 every week, youll have enough for a 360 and a game at launch.

That's a main reason I probably won't buy a system at launch. I will probably wait a few months to a year, then many of the launch and early titles will be available fairly cheap new or used. Then again, if there are great launch titles that are easily worth $50 I might be more likely to buy a system sooner.

If and when I decide to buy the 360 (not at launch) I will pay for it like I do everything else - with the money I have in the bank from working all the time. I just shelled out $550 to get my garage doors fixed last Saturday - a $400 system + games will be cheap in comparison to crap like that and I'll actually enjoy spending the money! Everything around the house seems to cost $500 minimum... *sigh*

Well, looking at all the future whores in this thread, looks like I'll have to do men to compete.

though, I don't really want it, I'll buy it when it comes down or get it for xmas. Basically, I'd buy it with money from work like everything else.

I'm doing something like that^^^

I'm also taking advantage of the trade 4 get 40% extra on each game at gamestop by trading in crap. Been getting a ton of credit that way.

I'm going to use my loan check for college. I usually use the 400 to pay for fraternity dues but now I am an alum (with the frat, not college) so I don't have to pay diddley. I am going to do the same for an ipod this summer. I guess you could call that proper allocation of borrowed money.

I got one reserved at my store. I put $50 down last week, and will add $20 a week until launch. I figure I'll have it paid off by then.

I work. I've set aside $299.99 already for the console, the problem will arise when I have to spend another $199.99 + on games and accessories, thats when Christmas kicks in...

I don't plan on getting the PS3 or Revolution for 2-4 years after launch since I already got a PSP, DS and in the future the 360.

You can always get a second job (or temp around xmas) at retail and what not, and I'm sure you could easily rake in $500 or so a month extra towards the 360 and what not.

Also you can trade in some of your old games, or find cheap games to trade in for better credit. Or sell shit on eBay, theres alot of options.

:applause:

tell it like it is... i bet a number of people who are going to "work and save" will end up going this route, and that by no means excludes me

I plan on buying the system outright with Madden 2006. I figure I won't mind playing it for a month with all the original XBOX games. Then comes Christmas and I'll fill in the gaps with the best games.

I'm getting a one time bonus this July instead of a raise at work this year. I plan on setting $500 of it aside and forgetting about it untill launch day. I'll buy the system, extra controller and probably 3 games with that $500 and the $50 i already put down.

I wish I had an extra $15 every week. LOL. :)

I might just put a deposit down, and add to it every month or so.

$15 sound like a good idea... I remember during the PSP launch...

I put down $10 every week... then when I went to pick up the system I only had to pay $80 outta pocket for the system & 1 game... It felt better then pulling out $325 rite away...

Gamespot is having a extra 20% credit for trades towards a 360.....

I got $45 in gamerush credit so, I might preorder there...

I work for a vaccine company that's offering us $200 a donation for plasma after we get vaccinated. I can go twice a week for 8 week!! That's $3200, of which I'm designating about $700 for a 360 + accessories....

What's the catch on the "Free" PSP and 360? What type of "online offer" do I have to partake in? In my experience, nothing is "free"...

prob some good scammin type deal that will pop up on CAG a month or so before release so I can build credit. My DS was 30 out of pocket. My psp was 100 out of pocket. I wont buy 360 unless it's something similar.

You need to complete offers (which cost money - a nominal amount, but still) and then get people to sign up under you and each of them must also complete some offers. It's a long shot for sure.

I have about $150 set off for it right now since I got 3 baby sitting jobs over the weekend, so hopefully I have 1/2 of the total.

I've got a job, and I don't really spend much. I stopped visiting the deals boards here, so that doesn't really take my money anymore. I haven't bought a game since oh.. February, I think. I've got a few games in my backlog to play, it's just hard to get around to playing them.

um keep working and trade in my p.o.s. xbox. the thing plays games but says no to DVDs and ther is no way im going to get a 3rd xbox.

I found a box of DVD of Yu-Gioh and other anime. The box is about 72 DVD and my store buys some of the anime for about $3-$4 in-store credit. I can't figure out the math right now since i am tired of trying to raise money and checking each box to see if it's the right anime and not stratched. ANd I have about $200 already from cancelling some of my pre-order and getting their credit (I payed in full). Now, I am dog tired and I have finals all week. I don't care about grammar, nor my moderation duties in another forum, or my duty to my work. I just want xbox 360.
*can't drink beer for a while*

I'm gonna go take $$ from my brothers (who always have more money than me cuz they don't blow it on useless although entertaining stuff like me)

edit: I can't believe I misspelled entertaining...
