How Bad is the internet brower on the PS3

He's right though. I'm running fiber optic internet and the browser is trash. It's nowhere near "just as good as any PC". Maybe if this were 1998, that would be true. My PC loads Youtube in about one second. The PS3 takes multiple refreshes just to get to the main page. Searching for stuff is another story, and actually streaming video...that's a joke. The video is laggy and in most cases, freezes the web browser.

I'm not saying it should be the equivalent of my PC running Chrome or Firefox, but Jesus Christ.

So what? The guy asked what people thought about the browser. They think it's crap. The entire thread is about wanting peoples opinions.

and in my opinion there's nothing much to complaint about, its a decent browser ....... obviously we're all expressing our opinions here.

The thing is though, you're yelling at others for giving their opinions, then giving yours. Nobody ever said it had to be the best, but something that doesn't crash on any page that's got a hint of flash or video would be nice.
 
I don't honestly notice that SEH when I use it. Videos take a bit of time to load and might lag, but I don't notice it crashing...

so you're yelling at me for giving my opinion? Everyone agrees it could be better, my only opinion on the issue is that instead of complaining about it, get the most out of it you can.
 
the fact that someone says they have a mod chip probably will deter sony from doing much to expand the web browser. Worried that someone may use it and find another exploit.
 
My only experience with it was loading up Pandora. Took forever to load the flash player, but once it loaded I enjoyed having Pandora running - was great for my party.
 
From reading this thread, I take it the browser isn't going to be as powerful as my last year's model smart phone, let alone a netbook.

Also that it is better mostly to the Wii's browser and the PSP browser for sure?

The current browser is a resource hog already, so Firefox could be even worse on the PS3.

Youtube on my PS3 does not require any refreshes and if I remember correctly not much lag and never froze.

with javascript turned off , you aren't able to view pop-up ads or video.
then the browser doesn't feeze and is super uber fast :D
you wouldn't be able to view videos though without javascript , but you can easily turn javascript on with ease if need be.
 
i download crazy amounts of movies on stagevu with my ps3 :D

..why people buy ps store movies or netfliks is insane when stagevu is 100% free :D
 
For those with problems with their browser, are you using wired or wireless connection to your router? PS3 wired connection is 1 GBps, much faster than it's wireless 802.11g

Yeah, let's pirate games and music as well. I hope the PS3 you're using is stolen, since that would mean you didn't get free anything.

But seriously, $9 a month for netflix is nothing.
