CAGiversary!
This is a good topic.
How did I get my job? Well, I graduated with a Digital Media/Broadcasting degree. I had and completed 3 full internships at different production companies while in school (and had 2 jobs) Upon completion the company I work for hired me as a Perma-Lancer. That was my foot in the door. I choose to stay a full freelancer (own boss for the WIN!!!) so that I can work for different companies.
Through a hell of amount of networking I am now working on one feature length indie movie, Asst Director on 2 Web Based Shows, Production work, And video work for various national TV Channels. (Just got done working for G4 and E!)
So to answer the question, Not being a
up and working hard. I know CAG wont believe this but people in real life actually value my presence. Whowuddathunkit?
I started school majoring in CS in a small, liberal-arts-ish school, transferred to a state school and changed majors to communications/pre-law, and am currently attending a small school for CS concurrently with work..........
I agree with you some what. I went to both a traditional 4 year school and a accelerated, "two years of school in a year an a half.' school. And to be honest, if you strip away the, "Experience of being in college," the Acc school was much better in the long run for me. I learned all I needed to learn for about 1/4 the price. I got way better connections, they set me up with 2 of the 3 internships I did. Never once have I went to get someones coffee or shoveled someones sidewalk.
But thats not what the topic is about.
