How did you lose your box/manual?

Ok, so as I think we've all noticed there seems to be an apparent lack of manuals and boxes for those used games we eye day after day (I know, its just me :D), then this thought came to me: how did all those boxes and manuals disappear from all those games? And everyone here is guilty of losing at least one or the other, so post your favorite lost story here.

I can tell you up front: dogs love the taste of Genesis cases....

Hmm, I recall throwing away the boxes and manuals for every cartridge game I ever owned all the way up untill the GBA, and then I started keeping them. I remember it was just 7 years ago that I got a brand new copy of Mario RPG, yet I was foolish enough to trash it back then, even though a complete copy is worth a pretty penny now. I guess I don't have very many other stories though, my brothers are usually culprits for losing their boxes and cases, I keep all of my games on a nice shelf now.

I blame the stores where used games go. I went to Circuit city and bought 2 or 3 $5 gba games and took them to Gamekrazy. They just toss the books and boxes. I'm assuming EBGames and Gamestop do the same thing, too, since their used game case doesn't seem to have any boxes or instructions to go with it.

As for myself, well, the only thing I ever threw out were those foam thingies that were placed over the CD in SegaCD and Saturn big box games. Even then, I started keeping those. I was a total nut about keeping my games pristine (at least the games that I got that were pristine).

Well I "lost" my suikoden 2 case and manual when I traded it for a complete copy of Valkyrie Profile.

Otherwise pretty much everything went into the trash, until the PS came out most Nintendo games came in crappy cardboard boxes.

I never lost my cases or instruction manuals either. Unless I lent it to a friend, and they somehow lost it, then that's how "I" lose 'em.

I lost most of the boxes and manauls to my games when we moved a long time ago. I was 7 years old so I didn't really care either way.

I havent lose any box or manual, just spilled water on my mario world manual. I did lose my copy of Sonic Heroes, but that game isnt that good anyway.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall that Scorch trades in his games as dick only because he figures he'll be able to rebuy them on the cheap at a later date, or some stupid reason like that.

Oh, excuse me, did I say DICK only? I believe I meant DISC only, or at least I THINK that's what I meant.

As I recollect, I haven't lost anything... I have all my GBA games in a box. Anything that doesn't have its box/manual didn't come with one.

With Genesis case is important to me, GBA cases aren't important but they should re-release the plastic protectors, nowadays they want you to buy them seperately in teh good old days you got that with your game.:oldman::oldman::oldman::oldman::oldman::oldman:

Come on now. Scorch is a great guy.

As a kid, I lost almost all of my boxes and manuals. Yeah, I wasn't that bright back then. These days, if a game is loose, it's because I bought it that way.

I've lost many cases and manuals over the years due to spilled drinks. And it's not a case or manual but I accidnetly lost a game a bud and I rented from blockbuster (on his credit card) and they forewarded him to collections. :(

I've never lost a manual or a box for any game I've ever owned. The only time I had a problem was when I was younger, I let a friend borrow Fatal Fury for SNES and the box came back smashed. After that I only let people borrow cartridge only.

Hmm.. well, back in the day when games came in boxes I always threw them away and just kept the manual. If games still came in boxes, I'd still throw them away, like PC games, and Star Ocean:TTEOT when that first came out it was in a box. However, cases are another story. I dunno where else you'd put your game except in a case. Maybe a disc album thing? Thats the only reason I can think of that someone would lose the case.

I was a kid damnit  ! I didn't know that years later I would regret throwing out most of my SNES/N64 boxes and manuals. I'm glad I managed to save a few, especially the huge Earthbound box. I think that's the only reason I didn't toss it. Oh, and I stepped on my Lunar:SSSC box by accident.

2 words: "my mom" (sounds kinda funny)

she threw all my cases, manuals when i was younger. i use to keep all of them inlcuding, chrono trigger and final fantasy 3 for the snes. All gone now.

You better hope Rig doesn't read that. :hot::hot::hot::hot:

Heh, what's strange is that my mom made me keep all my boxes and manuals... she said that these damn games were expensive, so I'm going to keep all the pieces to them and take great care of them. Luckily for me, I really only bought and played RPG's (needed to find that one game that took forever to play through to maximize my buying) so I've got complete copies of a ton of RPG's.

I only recently started throwing away some cases - I have a big organizer and that makes it easier to store games that no one gives a lick about anyway, like old PSX Crash Bandicoots or Spyros.

I kept all my boxes and manuals even when I was a little kid. Until.... I moved to Texas 5 years ago and I threw away all my NES, SNES, and N64 boxes. Oh the stupidity! Still have all the manuals though.

I threw away all the cardboard boxes from older games, but I always keep the manuals.

I also got rid of all the boxes for all my legos, which I used to collect. But when you have as much as I do, theres simply no room for all those big boxes.

Years ago I took all my music cds and put them into 100 disc binders to save space, but I kept the liner notes/inserts, and even the back page part, so I could always put it all back together again if i wanted.
Never lost one myself. Does that make me ocd?
OCD?

I've never lost them either, because I know I'm going to sell them on ebay, so I keep everything in Mint condition.

A large amount of my NES/SNES/N64 boxes and manuals were destroyed when I moved about eight years ago. A majority of my games were placed in storage due to space issues... when I finally got them out of storage, the boxes and booklets were ruined beyond salvation. The only Super NES boxes that survived were 'cutout" rental boxes (A game store I used to frequent used to cut off the side flaps of a box and put the front and back panels onto plastic display cases), and Sim City (really can't explain that one...).

Yes, 15 years ago I thought "Someday people will be using the Internet and a site called eBay and I will sell these games there for lots of money so I need to keep my boxes."

Until games came in plastic cases, the boxes/manuals would be thrown out or lost, or I would endanger them. Haha, I remember taking Breath of Fire's book to school to read, and also reading FF3's book in my pool! (Be nice, I was a stupid kid...)

I didn't shape up until I got a Psone. After that, I became the obsessive person I am today! Everything I own is complete, with few exceptions. Only ones are Castlevania SOTN, and Robo Pit. SOTN is missing the book, and RP is missing the inserts. Those were games I was dying for, so the condition didn't matter.
