Interested in getting a second opinion on this... not re-prints, like Gamequestdirect stuff, but actual re-releases. Here's an example:
For a long time, Megaman X2 and X3 were hard to find on the SNES, and fetched a good amount. Anyone who had them in their collection, well hey, that was a shining jewel in someone's cap. Now the Megaman X Collection came out, it dosen't seem like out the value, but it just made it kind of redundant to pay the extra money for it on SNES when all 6 X games are available for 1/2 the cost.
Using a personal example, I had Megaman 1 - 6 complete for the NES for a long time... I was pretty proud of getting them all with all their original materials. However, Megaman Anniversary Collection came out for a fraction of the cost it took to get the games complete back in the day.
It seems more companies are digging into their back catalog, and it seems the Wii virtual console, if it really catches on, will be a very quick and cheap way to grab alot of the "hard to find" retro games if companies decide to list them... I'm just curious on what collector's thoughts are on these?
Right now I'm thinking it's completely pointless for me to keep Megaman 1 - 6 on the NES, espically since Megaman Anniverary has 1 - 8 all on one conveinent DVD.
It seems the new trend is taking what's old and making it new again. It makes alot of classics accessible, but at what cost to "collections"?
