Wondering if it's worth it and what to look for? I see a Linksys high gain antenna kit for TNC connectors in the CC ad for $40 but not sure what TNC means or if i should look for something cheaper. I have a dell 1184 router maybe someone could recommend a good one? thanx

Update your firmware. Did that to my in-lws D-Link and it DOUBLED the output. Plus the signal didn't 'drop-out' anymore. Worth a shot and it's FREE ;). You'll have to sign in Dells support site I'm sure

I've used this to share internet access between two houses with good results on a cheap D-Link router. Very simple to make, and doesn't cost that much... The only problem is this will change your Omni-Directional antenna into a directonal.... so if you're needing omni, then this (or the pringles can method) probably wouldn't be the best thing to do.

Take a look, and be sure to read the whole page :)

Hope that help,

Omni-directional means that you don't have to point the antennea towards the "client" computer, and you can move anywhere within a "bubble" range. If you use a directional, you have to be in the general "line-of-sight" of the antennea.
