How do you explain to girls that you play video games?

Whatever you do, don't brag about how many posts you have on CAG. It never got a date for me, so it probally won't work for you either.
I wouldn't even bother with a girl unless she loved games herself, what is the point? Sex isn't worth hiding my true love of video games.
No reason you can't have both (sex with hot chick and play video games). My wife likes games.

fact: all girls like bubble bobble
fact: women play a large amount of online puzzle-type games

while most girls do not care to hear you talk "shop" about your latest high scores, a tough boss or your xbox gamer tag anymore than they would care who the QB of your favorite team is, that doesnt mean its anything to cover up. Unless you have a serious problem with too much gaming (in which case mentioning this to members of the other sex is probably far down on your list of issues), it shouldnt be an issue unless you make it an issue for yourself.

And there are plenty of gateway games besides bubble booble, as mentioned mario kart, pikmin, volleyball games, to mention a few that have appeal across both aisles.

Just tell her you used to play alot when you were younger, but now you have less and less time. Then never mention it again unless she stands in front of the TV!

Considering I have a CS degree and work an IT job, the "Geek" and "Nerd" warning lights go on right away. Whether I play videogames or not isn't going to shift the balance all that much one way or the other.

It was pretty simple to explain to my now wife when we were dating. I love games, I buy all the games I'm dying to play but with work and friends and whatever, I just don't have nearly as much time to game as I'd like. All dead true. In one sentence it explained that I love gaming, but didn't put it before everything else. She was cool with it, and challenged me to some VF2 when we got back to my Apt.

Bottom line is she's super cute and super cool and had no problem with it. Well when she saw 2 lightguns and a wheel, she admitted that would have been sort of a red flag, but she let it slide because she got to know me better.

Bottom line is life's too short to pretend you're someone else. My wife accepts the games and enjoys them. Her younger sister is pretty hardcore. I notice that my younger sister and my sister in law are both much more serious about games than older women. It's partially an age thing. Plenty of cute girls game. I bet most CAGs are younger than me, so really, you should have little to worry about.

If you want to play it safe, just hit on the hotties wearing NESbuckles. But they're probably already taken!

Don't forget the Sims my wife and all her friends like that game. Also my wife is very interested in the QB of my team because she has a crush on him(Tom Brady) In fact whenever I get back home from the Bar/Casino where I watched the game she always asks how he did and whether he has done anything new to his hair.

I went to a small high school, so everyone knew how much into gaming I was, and it never really mattered. After bringing DDR to my high school prom, I gained attention, even from the ladies! I still see and play with some of them occasionally.
Maybe I'm weird, but I don't find girls who play videogames sexy. I want 'em dolled up, and cooking me up a steak while I play Halo.
im not sure if that was a joke or not, but i sure did sound like a sexist joke, i mean if its a joke, then its just bad taste, but if you ment it you might have a hard time finding a girl who cooks steaks and has no intrest in your hobbies ^^

ZL you are a neeeeeeeeeerd

 First of all, not only "nerds" play video games. Secondly, too many of you guys are whipped! If a lady sees you don't give a shit what people think she will serve you on her hands and knees, if you act like a chickenshit she will take advantage of you. Make her play with you. Say "we are doing this and this", not "honey can you please....". Bitches need strong authority, they crave it. Lay down the law brothaz!!!

I'm guessing you're single?

By the way, welcome to CAG, enjoy your stay.

I have been with the same person for over 4 years, and haven't had many problems with her and my video game time...On occasion I have she has complained when my college buddy and I play several online games of madden...if the girl is right for you, don't worry about it...I also prefer to be called a geek rather then a nerd

My GF does all three and she's is STILL a gamer
Then I say, hold on for as long as you can! :D

I know some girls are interested at games because I see them play on their calculators and during my computer class I would see them play some online puzzle games so yea I suppose it's true. It's not like all females would see you as some nerd or something. It seems more like video games is apart of most guy's life and females accept it. It's weird though I remember I talk to this guy who I use to be cool with and he's all "video games are for kids".

Anyways I wouldn't directly tell someone I play games right away, I'd wait till the topic is brought up. Like some guys mention about cs or sc I just go with their discussion. If they ask what I like to do for fun, it's "go chill" or "hang out" and in MY defination that could be a round of double dash; they necessary don't need to know it like. If I was a guy I would tell the girls I play games for fun, hell you could find a girl that plays video games too. It's better to be accept for who you are than who you aren't (god that was corny). Anyways most guys and girls I've known if they're a bitch about something that I like I definately know they aren't the kind of people I could get along with.
