Is this game worth $20 if I thought Megaman ZX was only slightly better then average? Capcom gets a A for effort with the Metroidvania ripoff style layout but in the end failed at it.
Is it worth $20? Sure.. depends on what metric you're using to rate it I guess. I'm a big fan of Megaman games. While I think the ZX series is a bit overly complicated, compared to the older games... it's still fun. It's still a Megaman game at heart (even if they're using guns instead of mega busters).
I'll be honest. I don't love the ZX series... In my mind, Megaman Zero set a poor precedent for future games. One thing I don't like about ZX Advent is the strange weapons-matching structure. The basic premise is that fire beats water, water beats electricity, and electricity beats fire. Don't quote me on that though. Now here's the catch, there's a few weapons that don't match any of these structures. There's also multiple weapons per structure, for example I think there are 3 fire weapons. Some of the bosses don't have weaknesses, basically.. it's a little too complicated for me. I miss the old 8 weapon structure. That one made sense to me. There's all types of extra bullshit in this game too. Like missions that don't really mean anything... I don't know, I can't even say which one I like more, ZX or ZX Advent. ZX had the

ed up map but made a little bit more sense with the weapons structure. Also, ZX seemed to be more interesting in general.
I like the original and X series equally. I like the ZX and Zero series a bit less.
My favorite games are Megaman 2, Megaman 4, and Megaman X3.
