How do you identify a certain VERSION of the Gamecube Action Replay? (I need v. 1.14)

OK, so basically I thought that if you get a version 1.14 or higher of a GC Action Replay, it would work on both older (DOL-001) and newer (DOL-101) models of Gamecube.

BUT then I just read a post on gamefaqs where someone ordered a GC AR from codejunkies.com recently (december 12th), he got it, it turned out tp be version 1.20 (higher than 1.14) and it did NOT work on his newer cube (DOL-101)

So, if you have a Gamecube Action Replay that **WORKS on the DOL-101**, please list:

1. The version number of your GC Action Replay (on the bottom of the disc)

2. What color your GC is (I've heard platinum cubes may have a problem with the Action Replay)

Also, if you've ordered a GC Action Replay RECENTLY from

codejunkies.com (the latest version - guaranteed to work with Wii)

I got two questions:

1. Does the packaging look like THIS:

http://us.codejunkies.com/images/US_...shot_large.jpg

2. What version number is it (on bottom of disc)? And does it work on the newer models of GAMECUBE (DOL-101)?

Can anyone verify this?

Version 1.14 or above (the one I need) is not only the version of the Action Replay you need to work on the newer model of Gamecube (DOL-101), it is also the model you need to work on the Wii ;-)

In other words:

Action Replay version below 1.14 = works only on earlier GCs (DOL-001)

Action Replay version 1.14 or above = works on earlier GCs, later GCs AND Wii

In other words, 1.14 or above is frickin useful ^_^

SO can anyone answer the questions in my first post about finding a specific version? :)

Zelda aint that hard!

You can search ebay and ask the seller to search on the package for teh version number.

LOL

Well, firstly I'd mainly be using the 1.14 AR on a actual Gamecube for playing IMPORTS
;-)

And yes, I had thought of your Ebay solution, but I wanted to get a brand new one if possible (from a online retailer or on ebay), thus why I asked about which packaging/color scheme is the one for the 1.14 Gamecube Action Replay.
:)
(it does NOT actually SAY the version number on the outside packaging, only on the bottom of the AR DISC, thus requiring you to open it up -_-)

Maybe I should rephrase the question:

If you have a Gamecube Action Replay personally and it works on your DOL-101 Gamecube (no Digital AV out port) **OR** on your Wii, could you please just include /link to a pic of the packaging it came in? That would be great :whistle2:D
(or heck, even just describe the packaging! tho of course a pic is preferrable..)

.

Not certain if this helps, but I have a 1.14 and it was the version that came with an extra 16 Meg memory card that could also be used for saving game data (bigger than their typical dongle). You may want to search around ToysRus or Circuit City as I definitely think they use to carry this particular version of the AR. I threw away my packaging a long time ago, so I can't take a picture of it.

If you have a Gamecube Action Replay that WORKS on your Wii or on your LATER model Gamecube (Model DOL-101 - Model number is on the label bottom of the system; this model is the GC with NO Digital AV Out port), you can help me :)

If you have a Gamecube AR that does the above, you have version 1.14 or higher of the Gamecube Action Replay, which is what I need to find. (earlier versions wont work on the DOL-101)

I'd like to find a new one on ebay if possible, but the AR packaging doesn't indicate which version it is (the only way to check is to look athe bottom of the AR disc; the version number will be written around the inner hole)

***Now here is where I need your help :whistle2:D***

If you have a GC Action Replay like the one I describe in the first paragraph, could you please post a PIC of the packaging it came in so I know what to look for while looking at the pics of ARs on ebay?

.

[quote name='dhowerter']Are you sure it came with a 16 Meg Card? As opposed to a 4 Meg Card?

I ask because I found this pic of AR packaging:

http://us.codejunkies.com/images/US_product_images/big/AR_GC_packshot_large.jpg

As you can see, it indicates a 4 Meg card in the lower right corner.

They claim this new version works with the Wii, so you're probably safe to order. Howeve, I was referring to the older packaging that included a 16 meg card (clearly said 4 times the typical size)

Datel will exchange an older Action Replay disc for the newest version for free, within 90 days of purchase. I did this and it took about 2 weeks to get my disc back. I still haven't checked if it works with the Wii (probably not). I'll try to check it tonight:

From www.datelcustomerservice.com

Q: I just purchased a new GameCube console and my Action Replay disc will not load in it. What should I do?

A: Unfortunately, the new GameCube (DOL-101) will not recognize any version of the Action Replay below Version 1.14. You can find your model number by looking at the black label on the underside of your GameCube. If you have recently purchased an Action Replay that is not compatible with your console, please send your Action Replay disc (do not send in your entire product) in to the address below with a copy of the original sales receipt verifying that the product is still within the 90 day warranty and we will replace it with a version that is compatible. Please include a short letter explaining the issue and be sure to include your return address.

Unfortunately, for some reason, I can't get ahold of Datel to even just ask some questions. (by email at [email protected] or by the phone number they list on their site --> 1 (727) 431-0650

I've tried mutliple emails and calling them like 15 times during times they should be open, but all I ever get when I call is a message (after I work my way through the "menu" that I am "about to be connected to a Customer Service representative" and then there is a pause for a moment and then it tells me that all "Customer Service representatives are busy at the moment and I should call back later" -_-

Obviously, doing the disc replacement thing is kinda scary if I can't even contact them to 1. tell them it is coming and 2. contact them if anything goes wrong

"I'll try to check it tonight:" (your disc version number)

Please do :) and btw when did you send your AR dsic in for a replacement? Couple days ago? couple weeks ago? etc.

Datel's customer service is... less than good. I've dealt with them on four different occasions:

The first time, I bought one of the Datel PowerBoards to use with my AR. It didn't work because my AR was too old (Because I bought it the day it came out!). After buying the AR and the PowerBoard, they wanted me to mail in my old disc and something like $10 to get a current disc that would work with their PowerBoard... and it took forever to get someone to answer their dang phones (no one ever responded to e-mails).

The Second time was when I purchased their Advance Game Port - The disc flat wouldn't work. Thankfully, this time, they sent me a new disc without me having to pay them, but again, no responses to e-mails and hell to get them on the phone. BTW, when I got the disc, it worked, but it was shipped in a plain envelope with a little disc sleeve tucked inside of it (and, of course, the disc inside of the sleeve). I'm glad it wasn't damaged in shipping.

The Third and fourth times I could never get them on the phone at all and absolutly no response to e-mails (One regarding needing software for my AR Max for the DS and another regarding an older product made by their company that allows for e-Mail on the GameBoy Color (This unit just wouldn't work at all).

Anywhoo, to actually answer your question, I *do* have an AR that's v1.14 (I bought a second one super-cheap at Circuit City some time ago so I could finally use my Keyboard). I can't really take a picture (I could, but it'd be super crappy between the reflective package and my camera phone) and I've cut my package all up to make it fit inside of a GameCube case (it actually looks kinda neat). However,. I can say that the newer version has a little splash on the bottom, right hand corner that advertises that this AR "Includes exclusive codes for: Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon Channel". along with pictures of two "They'd look like Pokémon if you didn't know what Pokémon were" creatures. I assume if you'd find this package, it should have a newer AR in it.

Ok I tried the new disc and I think it worked.

At first it rebooted the Wii and I thought it wouldn't work. But when I tried it again it booted up the AR disc. I haven't tried any codes yet, but hopefully it works.

What I would love is if the Advance Game Port would work on the Wii, now that would be awesome. Maybe they could do what ever they did to the get the AR disc working, but that's probably not going to happen.

Ok I got the Advance Port Disc to boot by using the freeloader function on the AR disc, but it doesn't recognize the GBA games when I insert them, so its probably incompatible with the Wii.

Has anyone here ordered one of the Gamecube Action Replays from codejunkies.com (the latest version - guaranteed to work with Wii)?

How many threads are you going to make about this? Why don't you just bump your old thread if you haven't received an answer yet, or better yet, why don't you use the contact list on codejunkies.com and ask your question there?

I did bump / update my old thread ;)

I created a new thread tho because its not the same exact question anymore
and less people would be able to respond to and possibly help me with my question if I ONLY bumped the old thread.

I am trying to contact codejunkies.com through every available email address and phone, however their customer service is as someone here called it, "not good". (in other words, I doubt they'll even reply, so I'm asking here)
