How exactly do you do this? is it suppose to be printed on some kind of special paper or do you just print it on to a regular piece of white paper and tape it onto to the box that you will ship?

You can tape over the barcode if you use clear tape.
I use clear packing tape to affix the label to my package.
Protip: Back when I used inkjet, I would always tape over the recipient & sender address info in case it got wet during transit to prevent it from running. USPS & running, two things that rarely get lumped into the same sentence.
