How do you save your game in Wario Ware Mega Microgames?

I can't find a Save option anywhere to manually save the game, and I don't think the game automatically saves because everytime I turn off the DS, I have to start from the beginning, registering my name again.

It autosaves. You probably have a bootleg cart, which tend to have batteries that don't hold a charge at all.
