say i have an auction that sells for 2500, how does one calculate the ebay fee?

Ebay's fees are detailed here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html
So your final value fee is going to be $33 + 1.5% of anything above $1000. For $2500 sale, your auction's final fees would be $70.50.
PayPal's is 3% of the amount paid + 30 cents.

What I can't figure out is why eBay isn't putting one in themselves so sellers can see how much they're losing. Well, I guess I can figure it since they pretty much rape the shit out of you after their listing, auctioning, and PayPal fees.

I'm quite fond of this one myself. It doesn't take into account "extras" like bold and other features, but for a very simple and basic way of finding out your combined PayPal and eBay costs, this is pretty damn good.

WiiD, for the most basic "guesstimate," eBay final value fees are generally 3 percent and same for PayPal. So just multiply 2,500 by .06 and it is a ballpark figure of your fees.
