How long has your PS3 held up?

My 80gig MGS4 w/ a 320 gig hd in it died last week. Got it release day ( so what ... 3 years ago ). Was used extensively by all family members. Fixed it to get info off, time to sell it.

I had a 60GB at launch (or right around launch time...maybe a month after) and it died right away BLACK FRIDAY (2010). My new 320GB that I bought on Black Friday is still going strong.

I was able to sell my BROKE 60GB for over $100 on EBAY. I Was going to try and fix it, but I didn't care about BC.

My 40GB died with a YLoD just after the 1 year warranty expired. What was annoying about that is that I had only been using it as a blu ray player (deal on PS3 made it the best/cheapest BD player at the time), and it died right after I decided I should finally pick up a game for it (mainly use Xbox). Thankfully, I was able to use the credit card double your warranty claim, and replaced it with a 120GB slim. It is still working.

My original Xbox360 Elite, that I use the heck out of, is still running great with no repairs.

Actually bought a referb PS3 in late 2009/early 2010. 40GB PS3 Refurb from Gamestop no additional warranty. Been humming along and I actually opened it two days ago to do a cleaning and barely any dust. Removed factory or refurb thermal compound and did some AS5 on it.

Still have my original 60GB model fat PS3 that I bought back in 2007. Still running like a champ, only part that is not original is the hard drive (it wasn't defective, but once I joined CAG it was clear that 60GB was not enough with all the gameshare downloads lol) which I upgraded to a 250GB drive.

speaking of game sharing i can't seem to find the thread(or am I just exhausted from newborn baby caring syndrome). I'd gameshare my Escalation Map-Pack for Black ops for goodies =)
So if your PS3 dies after a mandatory firmware update is installed, does anyone think you could sue Sony in small claims court for the cost of a new PS3 and win?
No because typically, a PS3 could break anytime. Some assumed there's stuff reading disc after a firmware upgrade, but didn't play a disc game for a while. It could happen anytime. While my broke during an update, the thing is I haven't used it in a while. The only way it could be firmware related is if the problem was widespread.
I've had my 80gb for 5 years now, 0 repairs.
It can't be 5 years since 80GB PS3 consoles didn't come out until August 2007.
