Just wondering the going rates.

I've been paying $70 a month for over a year now,... with Comcast.

NOW,... they jsut sent me a card in the mail today,... stating that the price will be increasing to $85 a month.

I have basic cable attached to this as well,.. but it would only shave $15 off, without it.

So,............what are you paying??
How much slower IS dsl when gaming????
Let me know.
Thanks.
:)

Verizon DSL which has been great. It's $29.99 a month and the speeds are 1.4 Mb down and 384 kb upload. They used to be 1.4 Mb down and 256 kb upload, but this past summer they increased the upload for no charge. The service is great as it has only gone down once in 8 months for about an hour. It's great for playing online games whether that be via PC, Xbox Live, PS2, or on GC.

$105 for digital cable, HBO and Cable internet through Mediacom. I can't complain to much because I have a hella fast connection. I do shed a tear everytime my bill comes though.

I pay only 35.00 for Earthlink DSL and then since they have no Web Browser I use AOL for BRoadband for an extra 15.00 so about 50.00 total and i get lag free game during live about 95% of the time with is sweeet.

I pay 20 bucks for mine every month with Comcast. I'll have to look at my next bill to see if they up my rate. I was supposed to get a year at the $20.

Eh? I don't get it. They don't have a web browser? You can't just use IE or Mozilla? Seems like you're paying $15 for a useless service.

I've got Comcast and these prices suck. $42.95 for internet, $40+ for "standard cable". Cablevision and AT&T Broadband were better than this bullshit. My only choices besides digital are $40 for "standard" and $10-$15 for local broadcast stations only. Thats bullshit. I hate these government sanctioned monopolies. Normally I'd say if you don't like it, nobody forces you to use them... But we are forced to use them, they're a monopoly.

Doesn't help that I'm blacklisted from Verizon.

My thoughts exactly. I have earthlink dsl and it works just fine with Firefox and IE.

I personally can't fathom why anyone would actually pay any amount of money for AOL? There are much cheaper basic dial-up providers that are just as good and their broadband service doesn't get you shit, just their crappy "features", all of which are available for free elsewhere. It's not even an actual internet service, you still have to get your DSL or Cable service elsewhere
I have Time Warner.

$30 for Roadrunner
$45 for mid-level cable
Man, midwest OH has cheap RR! Mine is $45/mo, but 3mbps DLs (during off times from good sites) are sweet.

My bill is like $104.....and that is with Comcast (if they raise prices again, I will be pissed)

High Speed Internet
Digital Cable
HDTV Box
(I own my own modem)

geepers must be my market my bill with comcast for basic cable plus internet is ALWAYS 85-90$ so sounds to me like you got it better than me for at least a while.... wonder why we pay different prices... just because I live in a very expensive area probably so they figure there are plenty of people to pay the price.

It's $90-$95 for me with Comcast Cable+Internet.

I'd rather they cut my speed and cost in half than give me 4Mbps. I can do just fine with 2Mbps.

Time Warner here also: $40 for Roadrunner (mine is blazing fast by the way, I forget the exact speeds that I have off hand, but last time I checked it was outstanding). and $45 for basica cable (for some reason I get HBO for free though, shhhh... don't tell!)

I get road runner free and digital cable for free I work for Time Warner Cable

dont worry I hear no evil and see no evil :ziplip:

I've got Comcast cable service but it's FREE! Actually, it's around $50 a month but my work picks up the tab...

$26.95 for SBC Yahoo! DSL. You can get it for $19.95 a month if you also sign up for their $50-ish unlimited long distance package. A good deal if I had any real long distance needs that weren't better served by my cellphone.

For gaming purposes there is virtually no difference between DSL and Cable, provided the ISP involved hasn't made any serious configuration mistakes. Once you get past analog modem speeds the major issue is latency, not data speed. The actual amount of data being sent at any moment is pretty small. The issue is it getting to you quickly enough that your opponents/allies status hasn't changed in the meantime. This is why satellite connections are by far the worst for gaming. That trip to LEO and back before getting to the actual Internet really slows things down for the individual packets even though there may be a lot of packets being sent collectively.

Sadly, that $30 is just the six month introductory rate... it'll hit $45 soon enough for us here!

doesn't really apply to topic because i'm one of those poor 56k saps, but i pay $5.95 /month with access4less.

a true CAN (cheap ass 'netuser) solution.

$42 for cable modem
$50ish for digital cable

Both from comcast. A bit too high if you ask me, waiting for Verizon Fiber to roll through my area, we are part of the beta test and are expected to get fiber by the end of the year.

bell south 104 a month for DSL ,phone and unlimited long distance and they also give me 10$ a month off on my direct Tv bill

$90 for digital cable with HBO (gotta watch the sopranos) and a cable modem wit Cox. I can't complain it does well for me

I had Dishnetwork top 120 + HBO and Cinemax so my bill is about $70-75/month for that plus $35 for RR via Time Warner. It started out at $30/month and goes up in $5 increments every 6 months until it tops out at $45 at which point I will drop the "DSL is much cheaper and they keep calling" line and see if TW will extended the promotional price.

$29.99 for Alltel DSL,my phone bill is about $59.99 a month. I feel alot better about my decision to stay with DSL now.

I pay around $100 per month for cable Internet and digital cable (everything except the movie channels) through Cox. Around $40 of that is the cable Internet connection. I bought a cable modem from newegg.com, so I don't pay a monthly fee on that.

Home: SBC DSL. $50. Our $27 contract was up a couple of months ago. Looking for new service.
College: $90 (maybe a little more) for Comcast for both internet and cable. Also looking for new service because of the price. If they jack another $15, we might probably change.

Does anybody know whether they have Verizon in San Francisco yet?

I'm basically stuck with Comcast or WOW in the Detroit area. Comcast has been good to me, excpet the price kinda sucks. Although, when compared to WOW, it's about the same if I get top Internet. The HDTV services on WOW are not as good either.....

I've tried to say...."we'll I can get it cheaper HERE, and Comcast pretty much said...go ahaead then and switch"

ALSO...Does anyone know the difference between DIGITAL PLUS & DIGITAL CLASSIC w/Comcast? I think the Classic is like $4 cheaper, but maybe not....doesn't seem like there is any difference, but I'm sure there is.

heh, I'm stuck in the 56k arena.. I get free access through work, but I also pay for another ISP $15/month for dialup as backup and to host my web stuff..

I'm soooo ready for high speed Internet to somehow reach me in the boonies :)
Well I'm in a dorm so the internet is included.

My father however has comcast and is also quite pissed off!
Same thing for me. Except my dad seems to like Shaw (he's in Canada, so no Comcast or anything).

Gotta love the T1 connection...
