How much difference between cash and store credit when trading in?

Talking GS and EB here. I'm assuming store credit is higher; wondering how much less is paid in cash for games, typically. I bought a couple of used games recently, but soon after found new copies available online at a good price. Being the freak that I am (and having money to burn, apparently) I plan to buy new and dump the used. I know it's a rip either way (I'll set up an eBay account one of these days), but I can't think of anything I'd want to put credit towards right now. Just curious as to how much more I'd be ripped selling for cash.

I'm not sure how much less it will be, but I would guess 50-70% of the trade value in cash. You should sell them yourself, it will make you more money than trading them in.

You could always take the credit on a gift card and use later. If you are that anal about games that you need to buy new copies of ones you already have used, I am sure that at some point, you would likely find a use for that credit.

It's 20% less for cash. If the games are PO and not POX, (excluded from trade in deals) I would just save them until they run a promotion with a game you want to buy.

It looks like those PO promotions are now RIP . . . EB used to have one going most of the time. Now, they haven't had one since Oct.

I should add that if you're trading in to buy things from the store, then always do the credit. Not only do you get more, but it is also not-taxable, meaning you don't pay sales tax on the portion of the purchase you spend the credit on.

YMMV. Some states require tax to be charged on the full amount of the purchase no matter if trade credit is used.

Reality's Fringe]It's usually about 20%. Or said:
Basically that's right.

Who in their right mind would sell their Gamecube to Gamestop for $16 cash(found that out yesterday)? If you do that, you must be a fucking moron and basically telling Gamestop that you like being raped out of money.
