How Much Would You Pay For A 60 GB PS3 With B/C?

I'm thinking of selling my PS3 in anticipation of the slim PS3. Since people seem to love B/C like it's their child and I could care less about it, I'm thinking it would be a good idea to sell it now. I'm going to use the responses in this thread to determine whether I should sell it or not. It's in great condition as I've treated it like my baby. So, how much would you pay for it?
Dude, research it yourself on eBay's completed auctions.
That's not the same. There are too many variables in those auctions to get a good enough idea of what to expect.

No it's not. And that's how everyone else evaluates their purchases.

Is it BC as in it has the PS2 chip onboard?

For that PS3, complete with box, paperwork, all wires, controllers, etc...

I'd pay $300.

If it's software emulation BC, no interest.
No it's not. And that's how everyone else evaluates their purchases.
Condition, wires bundled, controllers bundled, games bundled, etc.

By the time I found auctions that were exactly like mine, the sample size would be too small to judge anything.

Now, if you have a problem with this thread, here's a simple solution: stop posting in it.

Pros-
Has full b/c with ps2 games.

Cons-
Its used, its 3 years old, it has less gigs than the new one, its heavier, its bulky and again its old.

Dont think youll get much for it, maybe $325 tops if youre lucky, (depending on condition of everything). Id sell on craigslist to avoid costly ebay/paypal/shipping and packing fees first.

Nothing above present retail given the apparently rising failure rate in the old models coupled with the usual drawbacks of bying used.

My goal is at least $299 so that I can upgrade to a PS3 Slim without any cost. And yeah, good looks on the Craiglist recommendation as I'd rather not have to pay all those fees. I'm also gonna be throwing in like 6 or 7 PS2 games. They're not rare games or anythin, but they're decent, I think.

tree fitty. id have to see what it looks like but if i didnt have a ps3 id go 400 maybe 450 also what other stuff are you including with it? a game or maybe an extra controller?

I was thinking of selling my fully B/C PS3, as well, to pay for the Slim I pre-ordered. My wife made me throw away the box for it when we moved, so that drops the resale value unfortunately. I changed my my mind on eBaying it though, because I'm actually quite fond of it. It's got a 7200rpm 320gb hard drive, and it runs beautifully. After looking at the recently released photos, the PS3 Slim looks rather bland in appearance in comparison. The only thing I actually like about the Slim, besides the smaller size, is that my old model PS3 eats more power than a refrigerator. I may end up picking the Slim up for the HDTV in the bedroom, or I may cancel the pre-order. I'm not positive about it yet.

P.S. - I also like they did away with the Spiderman Font Logo. I always hated that.

P.P.S. - I wish it wasn't still convex.

the original 60gb ps3 is going to be worth more because you're going to be able to do things with it that the current ps3 can't do. backward compatibility is extremely important as it's a useful transition for ps2 gamers to still have their games and play them on the newer systems.

i would say the 60gb ps3 is worth at least $100 more then what the current ps3 system.

it wouldn't matter if the 60gb is 60gb as it allowed users to upgrade the hard drive.

People are selling the best version of the PS3 to buy an uglier nerfed version?

Seriously? Anyways, OP just throw it up on craigslist and see what you can get.

Well a refurbished one is only $330 @ Gamestop so I'd say that's the ceiling for what to expect as at least w/ GS you get a 30 day return period. Not knowing what the games are you're going to throw in, I cant make an evaluation of that.

Well, BC doesn't mean anything to me. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $250. You may get more than that; i'm just offering up my opinion.
That's not the same. There are too many variables in those auctions to get a good enough idea of what to expect.
So to get a good idea of how much it will sell for in a future transaction you're ignoring current transactions and basing the final estimate off of the information we give you in this thread?

In that case, $9000.01.

One of my friends just sold his 60GB PS3 on ebay (ended last sunday) with 4 controllers, 4 games and 3 blurays. It sold for only $320, so I would think your asking price should be less than that.. as allyourblood stated, probably worth $250 tops

If all you want is enough to cover a slim, put it on CL with those ps2 games for $325. If your getting little to no replies drop to $300. From my experience your better off trying to sell at a firmer price than an inflated one that people offer less on. The people that want one will reply and be more likely to pay the asking price if it is fair and priced good. What those of us on here would pay is not a good tool to determine price. I'd say you should be able to get $300. Any less just keep it.

I have the original 60GB model and, besides BC not being an issue (who doesn't have a PS2?) every PS2 game I've played on it ran terribly. I actually thought about selling it to get a slim but it's too much work, I don't care quite that much.

You've changed it's diapers and fed it strained carrots? As for the question, I'd pay 1 billion in fun money. Or $150 at MOST.

:lol::lol: Ebay, Paypal, shipping and packing fees are nothing compared with dealing with the inevitable Craigslist lowballing assholes. Be prepared to say 'fuck you' to tons of people offering $150 for you BC PS3, OP.

the nice thing about CL (even with the lowballing idiots and Nigerian scams) is taht you don't have to reply to those who offer you jokes. they'll never know who you are ^^

I'd say $300 and even that's pushing it, considering I can get a brand-new PS3 Slim and a PS2 Slim for $100 more.

250 itself would be good, but 275-290 are fair offers if you make up a bundle deal or some other incitement to buy. I say 290 because that looks more appealing than 300 and could be more bite-worthy for those on the fence.

Lots of people love their BC, afterall.

True. But I like telling them how much of a jerkoff they are for even considering that I'll take 1/10th my asking price.

I have the uncanny ability to ignore douchebags, so the answer to your question is yes.

Faulty research isn't good research.

Thanks to everyone for the replies and suggestions.

Why be such a dick? This is an interesting thread and if you have no interest . . . don't post.

I had a BC model. I got it with the first price drop and some discounts in the summer of 07. I didn't open it and I couldn't find any compelling reasons to set it up. So, I sold it off during the Xmas season (I made about $200) after they had vanished from shelves.

With the release of LBP (and finally some cheaper games) I got the system with the Sony CC and Amazon deal last Nov. I think my net price was about $100 (after rebate and discounts). I'd kinda like to have BC but I do have a slim PS2 and space for it.

I don't think you will get more than $300 for it. Regardless of whether it has all the features or not, it's old and a lot of people seem to be attracted to the slim. Since BC for PS3 is dead I'm sure people are holding onto their ps2s.

Well prolly not more than $200 but thats because I have one already. I wish I had an extra one. Which sadly reminds me, I saw an ad for a 60gb ps3 on CL that someone was selling because they were getting deployed. Well i contact the guy and it sounds like I am gonna get it, but then he never replies to my emails or anything. He had priced it at $200 obo but I prolly could have gotten it down $150. Dammit :bomb:

i was asked to offer on here on cag i havent messaged the guy since i dont have enough. i say $250 though. theres going to be alot of it on ebay and amazon in the coming weeks cause everyones gonna wanna upgrade theirs so the value will probably go down.

I had a chance to grab a 60gb model about a year ago. Someone up in Syracuse(NY) area was selling it for $50-60 since it had a DRE, though I think they said they had opened it.

Unfortunately, I had stopped going to Syracuse area for work(driver for a car dealer in my area)and I couldn't get there before they sold it, since I didn't want to put out the gas money to get there.

Yeah, I know I lost out on what could've been an insane deal....or it could've been a brick. You just never know.

Terribly how? I've got a 60 GB PS3 and all my PS2 games work fine on it.

Oddly enough the price will likely go down and then later shoot up. Too bad the OP doesn't have the box.

I'm willing to bet that a BC will get over $400 around Xmas and maybe more into the future.

I don't know why Sony couldn't work this out. Couldn't they just have the chipset onboard like they did with the PS2?

Of course, Sony has fucked this generation pretty well.

The PS2 is still selling well and in demand. I'd have to think a lot of those people buying a $99 PS2 would take a second look at a $299 PS3 that is BC.
I found this listing on Columbus OH CL today... This guy is a LOT LOW for what all he's including, but this is the kind of posts you're gonna be running up against, OP.

Also, for anyone in the Central Ohio area you should go buy this ASAP, lol

I'm tempted just to resell and keep some of it...

Try selling it for $350 on Craigslist FIRM. What's the worst that could happen? If you don't sell it for 350 after a couple of days, go down to $300. My advice, someone may bite, never know.

That seems like a steal of a price for the 60GB PS3 since it includes all those games! Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $275 for a used one and have seen them once in a while in my local kijiji and craigslist ads for ~$300 (but not with the amount of games in this ad!)

I still have the box, that was someone else who said he didn't have it.

So...I got a response from that craigslist posting and i'm not touching it with a 12 foot pole.

Issue has since been fixed with firmware updates, but your games are still going to look kinda "meh" on HD compared to SD.
Then it'll be no problem for me then, since I'm still gaming on an SDtv with composite cables.:D I honestly can't even notice the difference most of the time between a game played on my tv or my one buddies' families HDtv.
