How should I sell this?

CAGiversary!
Hi.
I recently won a iphone from g4's free stuff x-mas giveaway, and it just got here (which is awsome considering today is my birthday!), and now I wanna sell it so I can get a ps3. Trouble is, I'm not exactly sure how to sell it. Could I get some advice please?

Happy Birthday!

Do you ebay much? I'd suggest that if you do. Be sure to only take paypal from a confirmed address.

I've bought stuff from ebay, but i've never sold anything. I'm not sure how to set up a good listing.

You're better off just looking at auctions and take the pros you like about the auction. Just keep your eyes on the price also. You could just steal other people ideas and add some of your own words to the listing. Just make sure to take a great picture with your digital camera/webcam.

dont worry too much about the listing. people looking for an iphone know exactly what it is. your listing should just be a photo of your actual item plus a short description -- New, Sealed iPhone. I won it in a contest and don't want it. etc. etc.

search other iphone listings and learn from their:

titles
starting price

also search completed items (in advance search) to see what the average sale price is.

once you know the sale price decide how you want to auction it. I would recommend finding a price slightly below what they usually sell for and start it as a fixed price auction.

you could also start it at 99 cents and just let it play out... but i prefer fixed auctions for a couple of reasons.

1. buyer has to pay immediately to bid on the item
2. i get to name my price, so there's no surprises.

#2 is good and bad. I've sometimes undersold something because my price was the lowest out there... with a 99 cents auction you may make more or less than what you want to get out of it.

Finally, I would recommend posting on craig's list in your area and seeing if you get any takers there. between ebay and paypal you are going to spend $20 or so in fees. And if you just discout the item by these fees you may find a local taker which is the best way to do a deal like this. If you do sell it via craig's list then payment must be made in cash and cash only.

by the way, did you win any type of service plan with the phone? that might not be transferable if you did.

I'm not really sure if it came with a service plan, but I doubt it. I opened the shipping package and in it were just two things, a card for the apple store, and the iphone box.
Oh, and are normal iphone boxes sealed? Becuase theres no tape or anything sealing it.

One other thing. should I try to find out how to unlock it? The guy who notified me that I won it, said it came straight from apple when I asked him, so Im fairly certain that its locked.

If it was shipped directly from Apple, then the iPhone box should have been sealed with plastic. or whatever that seal plastic-like cover is that's on everything.
