How to extend PS2 controller cables on PS3! Help!

Hello fellow CAG's,

Does anyone know if you can use regular 2.0 USB cables to extend cables on PS2 controller?

I use the Pelican adapter to convert PS2 cables to PS3 USB's.

I am not sure if you need special USB cable for this or not..

USB is USB... any old USB extension will do.
