my PS3 hard drive, I had an old one which was no longer working, so I took apart the hard drive. I bought an enclosure and yes it is a 2.5 sata enclosure. When I plugged it into the PC, It's not listed under my computer. I clicked open devices on the bottom right corner and just got it listed as External generic when right clicking, it's listed as online but I don't see any option to format it.

searched some youtube videos, found the way finally nevermind

When you say you took it apart, you didn't actually open up the HDD itself did you? Because that would be a big no-no.

Anyways, assuming you're using Windows, press down the Windows key and R key at the same time. The Run box should open. Copy and paste this into it and click ok:

diskmgmt.msc

That'll open disk management. Your HDD should pop up from there, and it should have a black bar that says unallocated storage space with the amount of storage in it. You'll have to go ahead and create a new partition for it, and then format it.

Right-click it, click New Simple Volume, and just follow the instructions. It'll ask how much you'd like to partition, and by default it should go to the maximum allowed. Go with the max amount unless you have other plans. When formatting, go NTFS, unless you have other plans for it. From there, your HDD should be good to go.

yeah I was messing around with this part. I didn't want to screw anything up, especially if you mistakenly delete your PC's HDD. But yea of course I didn't open the actual HDD the actual PS3 was bad so I just wanted to use the HDD inside. I was trying to create both NTFS and FAT32 on the HDD. You can mess around with settings and create the volume size you want. I just used a link called Guiformat because if your HDD is over 30G or so you won't be able to format it from NTFS > FAT32 on your PC
