columbia house has some crazy offers to get you to sign up to their dvd club, my personal fave is 5 dvds for 50 cents each, pay $15 for a 6th to get free ship(good idea) and another $7.50 for a seventh(also a good idea). You can get all the special edition and limited editions that will NEVER go on sale at targer/walmart/bestbuy for very cheap.

The downfall is that you have to buy 4 more dvds at 19.99 or more to fulfill your agreement. I am doing this to get these 7 dvds for $25 shipped for the enrollment:

Lawrence of Arabia(collectors edition), will get 2 of these
das boot original uncut version
el mariachi/desperado double pack(will get 2 of these)
bridge on the river kwai limited edition
stalingrad

and then get these 4 at $20 shipped apiece

Vertigo special edition
I am Sam Platinum series edition
Rear Window special edition
1 more, maybe spiderman 2

So it works out to about $10.50 per dvd, and i am getting some great dvds in there, i may try to resell some of those to help pay for this. This seems like an amazing deal, but the only problem is that there are no george lucas, no criterion, and that to get most of the good enrollment titles you need to enroll over the phone, and not online and the CH phone reps sometimes dont really speak the best "engrish" so that can be frustrating.

Thanks to mightyslacker for bringing this to my attention.

Wow, is that the best deal they have at CH now? I remember paying like $7/DVD back in the day. DVDtalk.com used to have all the good CH deals on their site....

The current deal is decent, but still not GREAT.

I also believe the Lawrence of Arabia SUPERBIT is the way to go (check the reviews....I could be wrong, but I thought it was the BEST quality of that movie)

wow i thought i stumbled onto a great deal here, but i guess not? Granted I wasnt around for the "good ol days" when they were practically giving the movies away.

Do these have markings on the disc or case, kinda like how BMG printed stuff on the cds they sold through their club back in the 80s-90s?

You can still do better than 10.50, check dvdtalk.

Usually it just involves being paitient to wait for free shipping deals.

Also, when they have specials like 4 for 25, you can usually count that as one fullfillment, lowering the overall price per dvd.

yeah I have seen much better deals than that. Plus there is no resale market on them, cause like someone mentioned earlier they have that special barcode

"Right then I knew it was true love, we were inseperable after that. Ah, we ate together, we bathed together, we even shared the same piece of mint-flavored dental floss. The world was our burrito. So we got married and we bought us a house and had two beautiful children, Nathaniel and Superfly. Oh we were so very, very, very happy, ah yeah. But then one fateful night, Zelda said to me, she said, 'Sweety Pumpkin, do you wanna join the Columbia Record Club?...' I said 'WOOOAH!!! Hold on, now, baby! I'm just not ready for that kind of a commitment!' So we broke up and I never saw her again."

i got something here that you pay 50 cents per DVD for 5 .. you can buy a 6 for 14.95 ALL shipped free and you only got to buy 3 in the next 2 years

so 6 Dvds shipped for 17.50 and only have to buy 3 in 2 years

that is sweet, it is basically the same deal i was considering but you only need to buy 3 at regular club prices instead of 4

What is the code for that?
