Hows that DS Battery lasting?

pumbaa

CAGiversary!
Just wondering how everyones DS is handling the major play time its probably getting. I've had to recharge it twice in three days, but its been under HEAVY usage (I'm an RA in a college dorm and all my residents are fascinated by the DS). I'm not sure the hours I'm getting on it, but its enough to be satisfying.

Leave it to Nintendo to give us a battery that can last long while displaying impressive (for a portable) 3D graphics.

I hope Sony fixes the PSP battery issue...I really want one also.

Very comparable to the SP's battery life thus far. Off of the partial charge that the system had when I got it I played roughly three or three and a half hours straight before needing to charge. I've played it a good amount since that charge (Sunday) and it's still going strong.

Now if I could just get the Feel the Magic songs out of my head...

A couple of sites both got around 6 hours 30 min. I haven't drained it yet but I haven't played all that much.

Supposedly, the battery is the same as the SP battery.

Did you charge it for about 4 hours the first time, before you even played it?
The battery lasts up to 10 hours, similar to that of the SP.

Cnet said 6 hours 40 min, so yeah, that sounds about right.

And yes, according to the Lik Sang link I posted the other day, it's the same battery as the SP - they can be swapped if you remove a couple of plastic pins from the SP battery. The charger is the same as well.

Hmm. NFG, every professional review/summary of the SP I've read has said about 7 hours actual. Iiiiiiiiinteresting. Can you - or anyone else here - personally confirm 10 hours of active use (playing DS games with both screens lit and in use) off a full charge? I wonder if the 10 hour estimate is based off playing GBA games. Now I'm really curious about this.

Since a GBA game would only use one of the screens, it does make sense that the battery would last longer when playing a GBA game. In addition, they could reduce the CPU speed and turn off some of the extra RAM when in GBA mode, so I'd say its quite possible it has a 10 hour batterylife when playing GBA games.

Lasted pretty long for me... Charged it up once on Sunday, and then again on Thursday when the battery finally gave out.

You can do small things to increase battery life (EX: use headphones, etc), for reference.
