I thought the 670mx was pretty similar in performance to the old 675m... and a lot cooler running
All 3 perform almost identically. The 675m isn't "old" by any means and actually performs the best out of the 3, but it isn't even noticeable when actually gaming.
Now one last question. How future proof do you think the one with the 670mx is?
Very. I have a GTX 460m in my laptop and it plays 95% of the current games on ultra (ex. Tomb Raider) and games like BF3 and Crysis 3 on medium-high. The 460m is 3 years old and I am confident that if I don't upgrade (even though I am planning to) I will be able to play any game on the market for at least the next 2 or 3 years. Most likely low settings by then for the more demanding games like the Battlefield series or Crysis series, but still playable at 1080p resolution with at least 30fps.
The 670mx will probably last a good 5-6 years from now. Not playing games on ultra, but it will be able to run any game for the next 5-6 years most likely.
