Out of curiosity a couple days ago, I tallied up all my console game purchases added the total and divided them by the number of games to get my average price per game (67). I'm trying to shoot for under $10 but I just came in over at $10.14 (though thanks to the CC sale, I'm much closer to my goal). Anyone under $10 or even less? Just curious.

I'm way too fucking lazy to bother with something like that. After I buy a game, if I enjoy it and feel it's worth the money I paid for it, I don't think about it anymore. I DO buy most games for cheap, though.

Edit: You really need to change the title of this thread. "Batting Average" sounds like some kind of kinky slang, not how much you pay on average for video games.

yeah, I'm just going to quickly say that I usually spend about 15 bucks for a game. And for the record I did come in this thread looking for something inappropriate.

My average is probably around $20 per game. I went through a period where I bought quite a few N64 games at full price (I was making a killing cutting lawns that summer and had the money to spare). The sad thing is that I regret most of those purchases.

Since I've joined CAG the average price is probably under $10, I wouldn't be shocked if it was less.

the cc sale really skews it. most years i would pay about $20 per game, but this year it is cheaper, esp if you count the thrift shop finds and yard sales.(and the $5 game sales)

edit: i was pretty sure this thread would be about bangin beaver as well at first

lol at first i thought this was some kind of slug fest thing.. and then i thought how much ass was scored and then i dunno.. but wow. payin average... i think mine is normally 15$?-20$?

I'm a little bit obsessive. I keep a complete spreadsheet of every single one of my games, the amount that I paid, amount of time that I played, averages, cost per hour, etc.

My overall average is $8.70 per game, with an average of a $2.00 cost per hour. My classic generations (Saturn, SNes and back) is $4.11 per game, with a $1.35 cost per hour, and Modern Generation (PSone on through the present) is $10.83 per game, with a $2.19 cost per hour.

The current generation list is:

GBA: $6.16 average/$1.71 cph
GC: $10.53 average/$3.06 cph
PC: $6.72 average/$1.31 cph
PS2: $9.45 average/$2.38 cph
Xbox: $7.30 average/$2.16 cph

I'm sure my average is way higher than $10 per game, probably more like $30. But then again, I buy quality games I want to play only, not every $0.01 to $5.00 game I can get my hands on. And I tend to reserve/pay full price for many top notch games that come out.

edit - And BigDirty... that's more than obsessive, thats sad, no offense :)

It's all about statistics.. I like being able to keep track of all facets, and lets me see what I've spent the most time with, and where I'm dropping cash. The format goes:

Title, Cost, Hours Played, Cost Per Hour, Where It Was Purchased, When It Was Purchased, Condition Purchased (Used/New/"Opened"), and Date Last Played.

I then am able to manipulate the stats to see all of my gaming and purchasing habits.

Wow, that is one of the most obsessive things I have ever heard of. I have barely enough free time to play any games, let alone compile spreadsheets about playing them.

Interesting. I'm obsessive with stats in sports, especially basketball. I think I'm going to start compiling stats about my video games as well. :)

This would be obsessive if you only did this for your gaming, but if you did this for ALL your purchaces you are just stingy and frugal. Cheap ass!!!

I have too many games to calculate a lifetime BA, though for this year I'd estimate that it's about $18 ($339 / the 19 games I remember buying this year).
