Turns out that the UPC printed on the back of the box is for Wave Race: Blue Storm. If you can find the game at any retailer you will be paying for Wave Race, not Harvest Moon. Besides TRU, it doesn't seem like it's been spotted at any major retailers (BB, CC, Kmart).


OP:
Here's the deal, the new Harvest Moon was at my TRU today and the skn was keyed incorrectly in the system. When the game is scanned it shows up as Wave Race and the price is a penny. Stickers with the correct skn number were placed over all the copies at my store. However, the only way your local store will know about this is if a manager or world leader had recently checked the E-mails which explained the glitch and how to fix it. So, if you're lucky, check your TRU out and ask for a price check (or to buy) on Harvest Moon...It might be worth the effort.

my copy from EB had a new sku sticker placed over the old one (on the plastic wrapping). I recieved the first (and only) pre-ordered copy from my store so I don't think anyone will find it at EB for less than MSRP.

Went by my TRU.
Was told that they received an e-mail about the error a couple of days ago and was told to ship the copies back.
So very ymmv

I went by my local TRU today. The regular games clerk scanned it, and it did indeed come up as a penny. However, he said they'd already gotten word that this was a mistake and that he couldn't sell it for that. He said the actual price is $29.99. :cry:
 
OK, so it looks like there's no way this will happen at Toys R Us. But god oh god please...let me get lucky at K-Mart. :pray:

It's worth a try....I can dream!! :lol:

It's probably not worth it for $30 if you already own the original Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life... IIRC, Another Wonderful Life is basically the same game but it's been girl-ified.

TRU had it with a different 29.99 tag over it. I had him scan the actual upc and it came up wave race for .01 but obviously he did not sell it for that much.

called walmart they said they didnt have it and meijers said the same.

I think thats everything in Fort wayne besides Mcvans and they dont use UPC's so it wouldn't matter there.

well eb, gamestop and game crazy as well. Gamestop said they knew about it and couldn't honor it. 19.99 there if somehow someone gets them to honor it. didn't ask eb, still mad about the paper mario junk. Didn't try game crazy either. Good luck to anyone who gets it.
 
Went to Kmart (South Bend) looking for Harvest Moon, only to find the store being ripped up as it becomes Sears Essentials. However, they did have a display case for electronics stuff on clearance near the front. I got the following:

Polarium DS: $11.99
Mario DS: $11.99
DS AC Adapter: $3.99
XBox memcard (3rd Party): $8

I got the last Polarium, but there's still a couple Mario DS's there, along with some XB, PS2, and GC games, though nothing remotely noteworthy. I had them ring up King's Field and Wave Race Bluestorm, but they were $15.99 each. So I stuck with the DS stuff.

I'm gonna try Meijer tonight.

That damned Kmart in Auburn rules... it's old as piss, the staff is dumbass, and they had an assload more games during the sale than they had at the Prattville Kmart. If it's cheapass up there, I would almost consider a trip up there

Wrong game. We're talking about Another Wonderful Life, not A Wonderful Life.

Anyways, it appears that the game has its correct numerical UPC on it (719593090038) but the scanning bars match up to that of Wave Race (045496960032) instead. Talk about f'd up.

Give it a few days... and I guarantee K-Mart won't catch this glitch for awhile, and won't bat an eye when it comes up the wrong price (someone in this thread said it would be 4.99 since Wave Race was 4.99...)

No doubt, given that the typical electronics cashier at K-Mart is a 40 year old woman with no interest in video games. It'll be a while before someone brings attention to it. My nearest K-Mart (not very near) was barren as well, it looks like that game hasn't made it to Cleveland yet. I will possibly check next week and see what's going on.

I work there, strangely enough, and work in the electronics section. I'm the only one that knows crap about video games (or hell, electronics in general) so I know where you are coming from. I highly doubt they'd catch this glitch, or hell, even know which Harvest Moon it applies to.

Plus the fact if it rings up cheaper, they won't bat an eye because they more than likely don't even know what the MSRP on it is anyways. I'm banking on trying to score a copy from Wal-Mart this way using the same philosophy.

What store did you check?
 
Forget checking FYE, Coconuts, etc...we got an e-mail today telling us about the error and instructions on how to fix it.
 
TRU here fixed the error as well... Wal-Mart here still didn't get their shipment and has no clue when it is coming in.

Only chance now is K-Mart...

the computer says 12 on order and none in stock

wave race is 9.99 and discontinued



hopefully someone is able to use that info as amunition
 
Definately still worth the bones if found @ K-Mart... I mean, the trade in value alone has to be at least 5 bucks :cool: Anybody know? If not, you could alway package with two other games in one of those trade two get 10$ extra deals.

Im still waiting for K-mart to receive some damn copies. Im curious about Target as well - for my store hasnt received anything yet. Of course- I would bet on K-mart=idiots over Target for obvious reasons
 
So out of all these posts, how many people have actually pulled this off and gotten it for less than $5? One? Two?

Sounds a little to tough to succeed with this one, especially when you factor in the gas to get there...for me anyway.

Any idea why it came out to $9.99 at BB?

as opposed to $0.01at TRU or $4.99 at K-mart.
