So... I saw the thread with Sims 2 for PC used at $14.99... it got me thinking, what if EB is FINALLY clearancing all their used PC games? Sure enough, they are.. the prices got changed around April 6th, here is what I personally got:

Swat 4 - $7.99
Neverwinter Nights Platinum Edition - $14.99
Alpha Centauri - 99 cents
Master of Orion 2 - 99 cents
Divine Divinity - $2.99
Septerra Core - 99 cents
Thief 2 - 99 cents

What I saw:

Neverwinter Nights - $4.99
NWN: Hordes of Underdark - $1.99
Beyond Divinity - $2.99
Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge - 99 cents
Dungeon Siege 2 - Pretty sure it was under $15
Sims 2 - $14.99

The rule is the prices are anywhere from 99 cents to $14.99...newer PC games that are $34.99 used (Sims 2, NWN Platinum) rang up $14.99. Some games had the stickers changed, some didn't, but this isn't YMMV, this is nation wide on all these games.

Also, the older the game, the cheaper the price.

Happy hunting! I'm going to hit up another 3 EB's on the way home ;)

PS Don't go looking for anything like F.E.A.R, since EB stopped taking used PC games months ago.

I just wish mine had decent stuff. I'd love the Sims Makin' Magic, Unleashed, Hot Date and Vacation expansions for super cheap (mine were borrowed by my cousin like.. a year ago and she still plays them nonstop). Employees have already picked over most of the stuff. I think this clearance started earlier this month. Star Wars: Battlefront would be great.. hell, basically any decent PC game. Freedom Fighters, Beyond Good & Evil, any of the Resident Evil games (All I have is RE2), etc.. everyone should just grab everything!
Nice, this isn't YMMV? I will have to check mine then...
One store had everything retagged except NWN... one store had NOTHING tagged, Swat 4 was tagged $17.99 rang up $7.99.

Definately not YMMV.
What do I do about online games that need access keys to play? Like Neverwinter Nights.
Don't know, the NWN Platinum I got came complete, and the keys are in the manual.

Alot of older games don't need the key, IIRC.

It's funny.. you're probably so stoned that you don't even realize that today's the 19th.

Did you happen to see any more Alpha Centauris while you were looking? :)

If you want to drive all the way up to the Port Richey EB in Gulfview mall, yea, they have 1 Alpha Centauri left.

Other prices I noticed while up there (they have two EB's)

Dungeon Siege 2 - $9.99 :hot::hot: (retails for $30)
Republic Commando - $11.99
Hitman: Codename 47 - 99 cents
Hitman 2 - 99 cents
Heroes of Might and Magic IV - $11.99
Act of War - $9.99

Buying used games is like buying drugs. You support piracy / terrorism.

Seriously though- when you stop being poor, buy new PC games, because it's pretty obvious that many people sell back PC games and they still have images on their hard drives "backup copies"

Ouch, I think I'll pass, but thanks for the info.

Copying and pasting from the thread about recent used console game price drops at EB, since this info is probably more relevant here:

The big drop in used PC game prices is pretty nice -- probably deserves its own thread.

Here are a few of the drops that I saw while I was out and about today (all PC):

Warcraft III Battle Chest - $11.99
Warcraft III - $4.99
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - $4.99
Age of Mythology - $3.99
Age of Mythology: The Titans - $3.99
Arcanum - $2.99
Railroad Tycoon 3 - $2.99
Syberia - $2.99
Syberia II - $2.99

And the $0.99 bunch:
Battlefield 1942 - (various SKUs for this: some came up $0.99, some came up $3.99)
Command and Conquer: Tiberean Sun
Descent
Descent 3
Etherlords II
Ground Control
Homeworld
Knights and Merchants: The Shattered Kingdom
Myst III: Exile
Myst Uru Expansion
One Must Fall: Battlegrounds
Oni
Railroad Tycoon II
Sega pack w/ various Sonic games
Siege of Avalon
The Wheel of Time
Thief: The Dark Project

Hey asshole, mind telling me where I can find new copies of Divine Divinity, Thief 2, and Septerra Core?

Yea, that's what I thought.

And I don't think I'll find them cheaper then 99 cents per game.

Some nice deals! About CD keys: I bought Half-Life 2 used and since the key was used the game didn't install. So I emailed Steam to get a new key. A couple weeks later I got an email that said that they would answer my question. It's been a month now and still no response.

I actually stumbled on this yesterday, I suppose.

I was there, looking throught the used PC games bin at EB, and I was noticing how cheap everything was, but nothing stood out screaming "buy me." Until I come across a case with a sticker for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 for $1.99. I lost my copy a long time ago, and I've been dying to play it again.

So I take it up to buy it, guy goes back to look for the discs, and comes back out about 5 minutes later and says "Sorry, man, it's MIA." So I made a sad face and left the store.

Sucked.

Actually Roufuss, I picked up a collection of four games at Big Lots a week ago for 4.99 that contained Theif 2, Deus Ex Game of the Year Edition, Tomb Raider Chronicles (which I don't care about) and Commandos 2.

Imagine my happy dance. Now I just needto track down a copy of Arcanum.
A note on Ground Control -- you can download the full version free:
http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/groundcontrol/

I'd forgotten that I'd already downloaded it quite a while back before I went ahead and bought a copy from EB -- as I recall, they were doing it as a promo when Ground Control 2 came out.
Whoa, Nice! Thanks for the info.

Hey asshat- try your local Big lots and looking around the net- pretty damned easy to find- actually if you go to www.

oh wait, you are an asshole, so I'm not going to share with you where you can find this stuff.

I believe I'll go to a couple EB's tomorrow looking for a couple titles. Specifically Warcraft III. I've also wanted to try "The Movies," so I hope that is clearanced and I am able to find a copy.

You don't want Septerra Core, that game is crappy. I remember returning it the date after I bought. I got X-Com as a replacement (hmmm, i shouldn't have returned that for FF IX).

Just a word of caution -- make sure that you get a copy that has the CD-key sticker on the case. I'd initially bought a copy that was missing the key and wound up having to exchange at another EB. (3 out of the 4 copies that I've seen at different EB stores were all missing the keys).

Did anyone else see Jurassic Park Op Genesis at their place? I saw it at my local one a week ago marked 12.99, wonder if it was a diff price.

I have the same problem.. i bought Counter-Strike 1 Anthology used and was unable to install it due to the CD-Key been used but Valve did inform me that they would be happy to give me a new CD-Key for $10 and that i'd have to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery.. so the game sits on my shelf gathering dust unused.

One of my EBs had tons of PC games left.

Went right for Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis because it plays easier on the computer and it was marked 12.99 but ran up 99 cents! :)

Here's another price for you all -

Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition - $8.99

I would have got it except I have Oblivion.

Picked up a few games today:

Warcraft III Battle Chest $11.99
Neverwinter Nights $4.99
Battlefield 1942 $3.99
Battlefield Vietnam $4.99
Syberia $2.99

Here's a story for the EBGames where I picked up both Battlefields and the WCIII...

Of course all of the prices are marked incorrectly. I ask him for a price check when I bring the games up and he says most of them are still correct. I let it slide and wait until he scans them again and then actually see the prices on the little debit/credit card machine myself.

So he finally gets all the games together, and scans them in again as well as my edge card. Right away I notice the clearance prices. I guess he assumed I was a dumbass because at this point he exclaims "Ok man, I'm going to hook you up big time." Since I've worked with people like him before at a GameCrazy, all I really heard is "Ok man, I'm really going to try to screw you over big time and charge something extra to your transaction."

Sure enough after everything is scanned in, I notice "Presell xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx $5.00" on the screen. I laughed inside, and then said "So... what game am I pre-ordering?" He sort of pauses, and has the "damn I just got caught trying to fuck over this guy" look on his face. I get him to take the pre-order off and all ended got my games at clearance prices. But as I was leaving, all I could think was, "Damn that guy was a douche bag."

Wow..what a jackass. Thats crazy. You shoulda smacked him up. On another note, I have yet to go to my EB. Usually the PC games suck anyway, so I'll get around there eventually.

Im really starting to not believe these stories. I have been to TONS of g-stops and eb's and not once have i ever ran into anything like this, yet people post this sort of thing happening like it happens every trip. Why would the employee pre-order you a game without you wanting him to or saying anything about it? It doesn't make sense.

1) Why would something like this even be worth lying about?

2) Game store employees must meet a certain quota of pre-orders and discount card sales in order to keep their jobs and get more hours. So if they are low, they can resort to using some pretty shady tactics

3) If a situation arises when the customer thinks the marked prices are still correct, but the real prices are much lower, then the employee can usually add in a pre-order and still end up with a lower total price then the marked one. The customer is just happy that the price is lower than expected and pays without a hitch. This is one of the easiest ways to raise your pre-order totals.

4) Just because it doesn't happen to you does not mean it never happens at all. You may live in an area where pre-orders and discount cards are quite easy to come by, so employees don't have to resort to doing something like this.
