Game Crazy as of today has gotten 21 pages of price drops for select new games on all systems (except 360)! Prices seem to range from $7.99 to $15.99 for most older titles. The new prices are updated in the computer, but the employees are still unsure which titles are affected (due to the quantity). Ask to see the "new pricing" list when you go!:applause:

I just got Phantom Brave NEW for $8.

Also, (more importantly) I got Shin Megami Tensei : DDS 2 AND Fatal Frame 3 NEW for 16 bucks EACH!:D

GO FOR IT!!:bouncy:

Knoxximus:joystick:

Scorch's ridiculously insane typing of the entire list from scratch, transposed into the OP:
I have the entire list, give me a few minutes (or an hour) and i'll type it up. This is the price drop list I was referring to in several of my previous posts.

$3.99 = 4
$7.99 = 8
$11.99 = 12
$15.99 = You get the idea.

Edit: Thanks to Shrike4242 and Scorch for the listing!
I have several GC's that are in hollywood videos. Reading an earlier post it was said that the prices don't apply there. Only to GC stand alone stores? Can someone confirm or deny before I go in there with my list of wants. Thanks
uhh there aren't any GC standalone stores, they're all inside hollywood videos I think. The guy earlier was saying he wished the prices were at hollywood video because he doesn't have a gamecrazy.

Wrong- there are standalones.
Wrong- there are standalones.
Confirmed...there's one in Kokomo, IN but that's the only one that I've ever seen. Also, about these standalones, be sure that you check the discs on your used products, I'm pretty sure the standalones are where they dump their damaged games.
No, it's not. It's the law. If he sold you an M rated game, it was his fault, he broke the law. If you had a note on your account, you should've been able to (and him denying you when you had a note on your account does sound like him just trying to get back to his game of Halo), but you do indeed have to be 18 to trade in at Game Crazy and 18 to buy an M rated games. If you've done either with him, it's possible that he got in trouble and that's why he wouldn't do anything.

Why haven't you called and complained about the guy if you hate him so much?
Because I don't have his name, but I have complained about the store.

Picked up some items today - if anyone is interested, please let me know!

Thanks,
Steve
All Your Blood, the problem with laws like that is that there exist no laws against selling Rated R films, CDs with mature language, or books with mature themes to minors. As the courts have consistently agreed, you can't discriminate against one form of media and not the others. Plus, those laws would essentially make M rated games pornography. Is Halo 2 porn? Not the last time I checked.
you're right, those laws don't exist. but in my opinion, those laws should exist across all forms of media, and not just games. "make M rated games pornography"? hardly. i'm not saying it's going to change, but i don't think it's unreasonable, and i agree with those making efforts to regulate it under law.
All Your Blood, the problem with laws like that is that there exist no laws against selling Rated R films, CDs with mature language, or books with mature themes to minors. You obviously didn't get the "EVERYONE IS NAKED" Skull...

EDIT: It is GameCrazy corporate policy that you must be 17 years or older to buy M rated games and you must be 18 years or older with a valid ID to trade in games or you must have parental consent for either.
It was used, but in excellent condition. It was $15. Of course it would be better to find the deluxe box set, but seriously...for $15, I couldn't imagine finding a better deal? :applause:

I've actually been real lucky with the SMT games. I found Nocturne (with soundtrack) used for $20 at a local bookstore (Bookmans), then I picked up SMT1 and SMT2 in this Gamecrazy clearance. So for all three games I spent $51.
Holy crap - you found a Nocturne at Bookman's? I visit Tucson a couple times a year and go to Bookman's every time. The video game section is usually pretty pathetic - a couple of old, dirty PS2 games that are WAY overpriced. They do have a lot of older stuff (NES, etc) but it is also pretty overpriced.

Bookman's sometimes has some pretty rare stuff, the one in Mesa I believe is supposed to be the best one.

Stay away from the one near the U of A campus. That one is crap. I found Nocturne at the Marana Bookman's. There were two copies, one was $20 and one was $30. I would have bought both at the time if I had known how rare SMT: Nocturne was :bomb:

There are no state or national laws anywhere that make it illegal to sell M Rated games to a minor... Unless there's like, one state where the law hasn't been overturned yet. It's simply a store rule not to sell them to the kiddies.
this is correct. in fact, the whole row we've all been hearing about is regarding exactly this. some folks (whom i don't disagree with) are trying to pass laws making it illegal to sell M-rated titles to children under the age of 17. as of right now, it's strictly a store policy, and isn't enforced everywhere.
right. some cities have passed laws re: selling/showing R-rated & M-rated stuff to minors without parental permission. the laws may eventually be, and i'm sure they often are, struck down by the courts. but anyway. it's much easier to pass such laws on the city level than on the state/national level... 'cause the larger the area, the more moderate the voters & legislators.

hmm... oh. well, actually. it looks like a few states have passed ratings-related laws. in one state a federal court ruled against it, and in the others the laws have been placed in limbo while waiting for courts to review them. a ratings law is up for court review in california, of all places. which, you know, is a lil bit surprising. surprising to me, anyway.

Are you actually advocating more governmental control and think that the government should get to decide what media you can and can't buy?

It's not communism here to not sell M rated games to minors. No one is saying, don't make M rated games (that's communism), but just don't sell these games unless the parent is there. Force a parent to do their job, at least partially.

I'm not so sure why so many people are against this ( I fully understand if your under 17, but soon. you'll be 17, and I can almost guarantee, once you hit 25 or so, you'll see that this isn't so bad (funny how, when it doesn't effect you, it seems like a good idea))

I just discovered I’ve got a Gamecrazy a few miles from where I work. Never been there (or noticed it).

I guess I’ll check it out tomorrow night, but geez it sounds creepy. Are all their games clearly marked as new or used? And they’re trying to pass off used games as new (I hate when Gamestop, etc. sell you the last copy that’s been opened, and they don’t tell you that ahead of time).

There's a few games on the list I wouldn't mind! Especially some Gameboy Advance stuff.

I've seen a couple of "Game Crazy" that, AFAIK, is not affiliated with the real Game Crazy/Hollywood Video. They sell used games and have some old arcade systems in the store (Salem, OR). The graphics they used for their store name "Game Crazy" is very different from the Hollywood Video's one. I don't know, I didn't really bother to find out.

To be sure, just go to gamecrazy.com and punch in your zip code to see if an official store is nearby.

GameCrazy is better than EB/GS in some respects, but worse in others. They don't automatically open a copy of each game when it arrives since they don't typically have floor displays of new games. All new items are behind the counter, theoretically making them safer. Here's were the "worse" part comes in, though: it is their policy to allow customers to try ANY game in the store before they buy it.

Imagine this scenario: suppose they have a single copy of Growlanser, and it is still new/sealed. An 8-year-old comes in with his mom and the kid wants to try out the game with the "big box." The staff opens the game, throws it in the in-store PS2, and lets the 8-year-old play it. He decides it's not fun, but wants to look at the cool stuff in box to make sure it's not for him. Once all of the trauma is over, the employee stuffs everything back in the box, and puts it back on the shelf, still marked as "new." Depending upon the mood of the employees, they may re-shrinkwrap it for fun.

Now, replace Growlanser with any game you can imagine. Quoted from the GameCrazy website:
No other video game retailer lets customers test-drive games before purchase. And did we mention that this applies to any game? So, whether you're a parent whose “gamer kid fragged” someone else's stupid “honor student” or a single guy looking for the romance of taking people out—with an Uzi—our “Try Before You Buy” policy empowers you to make educated purchases and go home satisfied every time. Shrink wrap isn't sacred, the customer is.

Yuck! Theoretically the idea of trying before you buy is cool, but IMO it's near worthless unless you can play a game for at least an hour or two. (There are TONS of games I started out liking, that I can't stand for some reason after a few hours.)

At any rate, those shouldn't be marked as 'new' anymore. Neither should the rewrapped games at Gamestop/EB IMO. At least they should give you a warning-I never know what to say when I see them getting a pre-opened game. I've taken stuff home and then returned it because I don't want pre-opened :(

Lord knows this topic has been debated at length on these boards. The part that really gets me is their abysmal return policy. While they'll exchange games that are defective, they will nearly never give you back your money. If they don't have another copy of the game on hand, they'll only give you store credit, as though you were just looking for a general video game experience as opposed to a specific one. This policy is in effect whether the game in question is "new" or used.

Has anyone in the Oakland/Hayward area checked out the GC's yet? I can't make it there until Friday. I know there's one in Oakland, one in Union City, and one in Fremont. Let me know please.

Mr. Anderson, both William Cannons are empty, someone hit them before me.

And once again, DDR Extreme 2- Is that w/ or w/o dance pad. anyone?

thanks.

so is gamecrazy just a store like EB/GS? havent been to one yet and just found out there a store within 10 mins from here. weird, because its the only GameCrazy within 50 miles in the bay area.

Ouch! It makes my heart wrench to imagine a Growlanser Deluxe Edition, which I've been looking for, is abused by the 8 year old and the clerk

Anyway, I know exactly what you mean. My local Game Crazy had a 'new' but opened copy of Wild Arms Alter Code F (2-disc version). The manager said they opened it for a customer to try out. The case was half broken and could not fully lock. It's now gone. Some people apparently didn't care about its condition.

A game is not NEW if it's not in its original wrap, period.

GC is usually adjacent to or in a Hollywood Video, since it's owned by the latter.

I have all sealed:

Godfather SE XB (From CC sale)
True Crime New York CE XB (From CC sale)
Advance Wars DS (From Sears sale)
Metroid Pinball DS (From Sears sale)
Pikmin 2 GC (From Sears sale)
River City Ransom GBA
Gunstar Super heroes GBA
Mega Man Battle Network GBA

I think I can get a sealed DDS 2 for the right trade deal.

Want:

Resident Evil 4 Collectors Ed PS2 (From CC)
Call Of Duty 2: Big Red One Collector's ED. XB (From CC)
Fatal Frame 3 PS2
Stubbs The Zombie in Rebel Without A Pulse XB

I will also check lists

thanks so do i need hollywood video membership to buy games??

Can't get to a GC due to some situational difficulties. I would really appreciate it if someone can pick up a sealed copy of Wild Arms: Alter F, Grandia Xtreme, and Shining Soul 2 for me. Leave a PM

I need Digital Devil Saga 2... if someone can get it for me I'd pay them like $25 shipped if it's new and sealed. PM me if interested

Yeah when I got home and opened my bag, it turned out that the copy of Wild Arms Alter Code F (2 disc version) was not sealed. Ticked me off a little, since I paid 'new' price for it. But it is mint and complete (and I do mean mint), and I plan on playing it eventually, so I can't complain too much.
Snagged the last Stubbs at one of the local GC's this afternoon. Been looking for this game forever.
I just got a call from my GC saying they just got a new Stubbs in!! Going after work to pick it up. And it's backwards compatible!!
I just got a call from my GC saying they just got a new Stubbs in!! Going after work to pick it up. And it's backwards compatible!!
I would advise people to check their GC's again if they're looking for this title. The GC I went to today said they just received the copy yesterday that I picked up.

I got a Mario Power Tennis (GC) from the recent Circuit City Clearance Sale. I'd gladly trade if for a new factory-sealed copy of Spartan Total Warrior (GC) from this sale, if anyone can get their hands on a copy. Please PM me if interested!

Thanks!

I didn't think Stubbs was that hard to find aand that $16 was that great of a price...either way yeah I just saw a copy at my local GC that wasn't there before, 15.99

At least during this clearance the used prices are close (if not more) than the new prices, so there's not a lot of room to argue that the games should be cheaper. I really wish they wouldn't re-shrinkwrap them; I definitely don't mind paying $4 for a complete copy of Shining Soul but I'd like to know that it's used prior to purchasing. You know, just on principle.

I wouldn't have used it in the example if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. Horrifying, I know.

Actually I think at Gamecrazy's anyway, it is pretty hard to find. I just put in a special order for the games I was looking for. That way they call me if they get it in. (Assuming an employee doesn't snag it first.)

I just fucked up the Kinsman Rd and Lorain Ave stores. You alleged NE Ohio CAGs are a bunch of pussies for not trekking into the ghetto. I pretty much got everything useful GBA wise except for MMZ2 and Shining Soul 2. There was a bunch of stuff that still shouldn't have been there considering this sale has been going on for a while.

Berea was cleaned out as reported. They did have a bunch of cheap e-reader cards that I seem to do well with.

Canton area CAGs, Ill be there bright and early in the morning. You've been warned.

That's fucking lame. I guess I'll hit up the one on North 183 tommorow. Thanks for the heads up.

Didn't need to venture to the hood. I was the one that fucked up Berea. Well, not really. I did get everything I needed from them - DDS2 (mint), River City Ransom. Also, got some games shipped to them from other local GCs - Fatal Frame 3 and DDS2 sealed (from Canton). Those were the only ones I was looking for and could afford at that time.

:D Good to hear I didn't waste a trip since MMZ2 is all I need at this point.
I'd also like to know if the DDR Extreme 2 is $16.00 with the pad or not.
i believe it is both. kareoke revolution with and without the mic rang up as 15.99.

Ok, so which one of you bastards fucked up the Chicago 'burbs stores? Every store i went to yesterday said some guy from wisconsin came in and bought all the clearance stuff? I demand to know!

Both Canton stores are now done. Still had some decent stuff left.

On my way out of Strip Ave, I noticed a flawless DDS and a Dark Alliance II. Begged and pleaded to get them, but they were on hold for another employee. Its not nice to taunt people by putting hold items in plan view :D
