Humble Bundle Thread

Yup, checked my main library and the bundle page. They swindled me out of a penny, those bastards.

Edit: Least the penny went to charity.

Pay $1 or more to receive the grand strategy game that started it all, Crusader Kings Complete, and a Crusader Kings fiction eBook, A Fall of Kings: Champions of Anglia (Book I)

Hate-pennying for the eBook. Least they got that part/the $1-tier right.

Edit: I paid a penny and didn't get an eBook. What the fuck Humble?

I don't think they were too disingenuous about it.

EDIT: Fatality'd!

Ugh, but the warning I get when I put in less than $1 says "Pay $0.99 to get Steam keys". Guess it was only a matter of time before Humble paywalled the extras too. :wall:

But you're right, the info is there (I could have sworn that last sentence wasn't there when I read the description for Fall of Kings), I shouldn't have assumed that Humble wouldn't change their general policy. Still sucks though.

You clearly fail to grok hate-pennying young padawan.

You don't hate-penny for personal gain. You hate penny to express your hate and fuck them over. It must be done with a Credit Card via Paypal to incur the maximum transaction fees on your penny, which exceeds the value of the penny you sent them, thus they lose money.

So not only has this bundle reinforced fixed "BTA" tiers in the main bundle, Humble has also just set a precedent for a minimum price on default tier, non-Steam items.

Best bundle EVAR.

The bolded part is what I do (I can't pay less than 50 cents with my card outside of doing it through PayPal). How come I can't simultaneously take the bonus stuff and give them the finger though? :p

That's not the purpose of hate-pennying. If you hate-penny and get bonus lewt great. If not, well that's not why you hate-pennied.

Dropping a penny on HB for the purpose of the DRM-FREE scraps is simply pennying-in. The two are completely different.

It's the difference between Dick Cheney shooting you in the chest during a "hunting accident" and the shooting you in the chest at the office.

What if you penny in knowing it costs them money, but take satisfaction in doing so? That's more or less what I've been doing when I say that.

I'm not MysterD, but I feel like I have to do this..

I'm glad you've volunteered to take on double duty on the drinking game, :newbie: . We'll have a death by alcohol poisoning in this forum yet!

If you're talking about them not repeating the Flash sales, I don't mind this and actually wish Steam would adopt a similar policy during their sales. Why am I going to bother checking Flash sales every eight hours or so when I know I can get the exact same price when it comes up as a daily? Either don't run flash sales at all, or make it worth my time to check out what the current ones are.
I'm going to ignore the part about you being okay with higher prices and just say that a much better solution would be to not drop a page full of repeats that sits there for two days.

Hate pennying should only get you the satisfaction of of fuck ing them over.

If you're actually expecting to get something in return/complaining about not getting anything, then you're not hate-pennying, you're pennying-in. As I tried to highlight with the Dick Cheney example the difference is intent.

It's the difference between Dick Cheney shooting you in the chest during a "hunting accident" and the shooting you in the chest at the office--or when you pass him on the street, or from 150 yards away with a telescopic sight, or when you're sleeping in your bed.
FTFY

That's one way to look at it, but I'm just saying that I like the idea of flash sales that really are limited in availability at better sale prices than they would otherwise be during the promotional period. Done right, these can provide a huge boost in sales, even after this short window. As an example, I jumped on Amazon's Prototype Pack flash sale for $7.50 back in November 2012, but they still sold a whole lot of copies the next week at $9.99.

Recap days are nothing new for sales and have been used consistently by both Amazon and Steam, to name just a few. I'll agree with you that two full days might be a bit much, but it's not like Steam hasn't done that before.

$20 and it doesn't include The Old Gods? Wow...
You're right, I didn't even bother looking at the full list. You know what the scary thing is? 21 DLCs is exactly half of what's available for CKII right now, which is ludicrous, even by Paradox standards. FYI, it also doesn't include the Sons of Abraham or Rajas of India expansions.

So apperantly Huble adds 3 copies of Hammerwatch to $1 tier and BTA. 9 copies to $8?

And already redeemed gifts got 3 copies too. WTF humble.

It's not worst daily anymore :D

Should've bought.

Yeah you're all correct... those Hammerwatch dailies ($2) were a real kick in the teeth to the bundle buyers ($8 -> 8 copies)

What about the "Sultans of Swing", "Duke of Dunk" or "Prince of Bel Air" expansions?

I swear the next Paradox game is going to be just the main menu...everything else will be DLCs....

Alright, I take back the shit I said about the Hammerwatch bundle. That just fixed it. Got 4 extra copies.

Which is great because I already got $8 from selling the other 4 I had. So now I have a free 4 copies. Best bundle evar.

To be fair to Paradox, only 7 are anything non-cosmetic (Islam, Republic, Rome, Rajas, Old Gods, Sons of Abraham, Ruler Creator). Sunset Invasion could count, though I think it is the dumbest thing for them to have wasted any time on.

While giving me one of those won't completely absolve you from reporting everyone to playfire, it is a solid first step towards getting back into my good graces.

Why in the world would they do this those crazy kids. I got 0 copies added to the 0 number of Hammerwatch bundles I didn't buy because the deal seemed so silly. Silly me.

Alright, so it turns out every gift link gave 4 copies.. so... I got quite a bit. They've fixed it now, unfortunately.

Humble totally redeemed themselves today.

Is it me, or are a lot of the Humble Bundles turning into Amazon DVG's recent sales?

It's as if HB knows they got the masses now, so now they joined the complacency club. They seem to be putting more emphasis on the Humble STORE than their Humble BUNDLES.

I, in light of this recent Humble calamity, have decided to waive all fees related to my well-regarded Hammerwatch Steam key disposal services.

If anybody needs to quickly dispose of an extra code, let me know and I'll gladly take it off your hands free of charge. I feel it's the neighborly thing to do.

Whatever. Humble is my favourite bundle site after this Hammerwatch snafu shit. Best $8 I ever spent. :)
