Humble Bundle Thread

For manga, resolution is key, I've had devices from each era, and I have to say that a 2013 Nexus 7 (1920x1200) or an iPad mini retina is key for reading without zooming/panning.  Lower res devices are still capable, with zooming and panning, down to an 800x480 phone.  But really full-page reading is where it's at.

E-ink displays are too low res.  Most Kindles are 800x600, the paperwhite is 1024x756.

I can't comment on western comics, but I assume the same applies.

Gigantic Army looks good for a dollar.

I've got Unholy Heights. It's a very odd mashup of TD and managing a monster hotel. No wait, that maybe sounds more interesting than it is actually. Not bad, just... weird.

One Way Heroics: maybe better than I thought at first glance. I assumed it was a cookie-cutter RPG Maker game, but it appears to be an RPG-Roguelike with an interesting twist: one side of the world is constantly being eaten away, forcing you to keep moving.

I'm really suprised they didn't include any games published by Aldorlea. In for $1.

I'm not a big shoot them up fan but Astebreed looks well done. So for me I'd be getting it at HLP plus all the other games as a throw in...

Welp I already have 2 games in the $6 tier so I guess I'll stick to the $1 one even if it means I'll have an extra copy of One way heroics! Almost wish I hadn't bought it in the steam summer sale now but what can you do.

I would assume you'd want a color screen anyways for Western comics, due to most of it being in color.

Edit: That's what I get for leaving a tab open for an hour before responding.

Oh elektronik manga/comics discussion, I'd also add, The 2013 Nexus 7 is a *lot* brighter than the iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina, if you're in bright environments.  I'd read this back on the early reviews but I didn't appreciate it until seeing the difference in person recently.

I'm so glad I didn't give in and buy Gigantic Army when it was on sale a several weeks ago. Humble Weekly actually came through this time with something worthwhile. In for $1.

Seriously though, I already own everything except Astebreed. That's the only game I want, but not for $10.

Too bad these don't include any bonuses like soundtracks. I would love to own a legit copy of the Ys Origin Arrange.

THAT'S WHAT I TOLD EVERYONE MONTHS AGO. IT'S VALKEN / CYBERNATOR.

It's an AWESOME GAME. Well worth the dollar.
I never understood why they changed the name from Assault Suit Leynos to "cybernator". Even the cover was better on the Japanese version... I had it and I'm still mad I sold it

Kind of want Astrebreed and Mitsurugi but for $10...not sure. I own most of the 6 dollar tier....may just go the 1 dollar tier and pick up Astrebreed/Mitsurugi in the next Steam sale.

You mean Valken, Leynos (Target Earth) was the Genesis game.

And not only was the title changed, they also removed most of the story. A translation patch for the original game was created by Gideon Zhi a few years back.

Been waiting for Gigantic Army to get bundled. The fact that they even mention Front Mission: Gun Hazard as an inspiration is pretty amazing. Too bad I already bought One Way Heroics in the summer sale, but what can ya do. Realizing now I don't have Y's Origin either, so maybe I'll do the second tier.

True, cybernator was Valken and Target Earth was Leynos. Never played the English version of Leynos, so I don't know much about the story (and by "not much" I mean "nothing"). I should play it again soon. Soundtrack was great too. Very "metallic" thanks to the Genesis sound chip xD

$6 is a great price. Ys Origin is usually $5 on sale

Willing to split a bundle I get Astrebreed, Gigantic Army, Mitsurgi. Rest is yours (will obviously not take into the account the extra 4 dollars for Astrebreed). PM me if interested.

Edit: Split done thanks!

I like Unholy Heights ! Got it during the Steam Winter sale and actually played it right away. And I went crazy and got the level 5 badge.. Sad seeing the card prices at <$.10 right now. oh well!

That's because you're a woman. Haven't you been keeping up with the Steam Deals thread? Take your feminist "opinions" to Twitter, girfran.

I think I might jump into this.  Never bought a Humble Bundle, feared my computers were too old for these.  DRM-free kind of helps when someday, I might be able to afford a computer that can run these games properly.  Ys Origin helps.  I think I only have the PSP version.
