Humble Bundle Thread

I almost had the opposite impression. I'm used to the days of walking into a video store and the "staff picks" were always some 20 year old film studies major slapping Scarface, The Big Lebowski and Pulp Fiction up on the wall. Predictable, but at least you knew why it was predictable. These games are seemingly chosen at random or out of a strange pool of choices. I guess Bioshock Infinite fits the "picked by a film studies major" theme which just makes it stand out more from the other titles.
Good point, that is another way of looking at this too. It will be interesting to see how HB plays out over the next year as we move into the IGN era. Who knows it could be good or could be comedic... like the EA indie bundle released on Steam.

Seems odd the only gaming bundle is the employee's picks so hopefully this means they are working on something halfway decent. Though with the return of the $20 credit I am seriously tempted to sub to the monthly for a year since there has been at least one game a month for the last 4 that I wanted. The addition to skip months also does not hurt, granted you're locked in for 12 monthlys so if they go south in the age of IGN then fool and their money.

They're offering $20 of wallet when you buy a year of monthlies again. I'm tempted, but I'm probably better off buying or trading for the 1 or 2 individual games I want from the bundle each month.

Done dealing with Humble Support.

If someone here can buy a gift of the current January 2018 Humble Monthly (or selling their Humble Monthly), I'll Paypal you the $12 for the complete bundle.

I looked at Idea Factory games today (Fairy Fencer, Neptunia/Neptune, Trillion, Amnesia) and noticed that many games discounted 80-90%.  This should mean ripe for a bundling soon.

Eh, they've been doing high discounts for a while now. It's just Idea Factory's style. They usually do 40% off on release for some titles as well.

Yeah, the MSRP isn't the real price for any of the Idea Factory games. It's just an inflated number so they can wow you with a huge discount percentage whenever they put them on sale. Which is pretty frequently.

Yeah the Idea Factory prices are like Kohls prices and are pretty much always on sale for 75% ~ 90% off and have been for well over a year at this point. Exceptions are Nep Nep V-II and Sega Hard Girls but those too will eventually be ushered into the halls of 75%+ permasales. I used the last wave of sales to round out my collection of Compile Heart trash because I am a sucker for their games.

Did not realize I would have to pay for the year sub now instead of it waiting for my current sub to end at the end of Feb. Bit of a deal breaker for me as that $20 is not worth ponying up $132 this second since I already have a massive list of games to work on.

V-II has been 75%+ off including all DLC on Humble. I think it's just Sega Hard Girls, Hakouki, and Moero Chronicle that haven't been cheap at this point.

Can you pause an annual subscription?
You can skip months. I have been afraid to skip though for the most part. Post IGN I really expect things to go downhill at some point. Would rather not be holding onto half my 12 month when that happens.

I think it was 85% on fanatical. Vanilla
Yeah I forgot the exact percentage. Was 80% off on Humble, but after the monthly discount and 5% wallet back % was around the same. Better deal if you had wallet and wanted the DLC. I bought it vanilla for $7.99 on IG at first and then later bought it on Humble to get the DLC and sold the base game for 5 CSGO keys.

Ah yes, I forgot about the times V-II was that low. Point still stands, the great majority of the Idea Factory games are pretty much always on sale for deep discount as is a majority of the DLC. Waiting for Moero Chronicle  to hit $5 because I already know deep down it will be terrible.

So with the Jan early unlocks eating up most of the normal value, what you bet the remaining games will be indie trash no one has heard of or would normally buy? I want to be optimistic and hope we get another gem like Shadow Tactics but the realist in me says we're getting another Emily is Away Too and Orwell. Though as much as I complain about it, the $12 a month is not that hard of a pill to swallow to participate in Humble roulette.

I was actually thinking of it as an unlock for the January bundle. I don't even want it to take up one of the six spots. God, could you imagine if they actually tried to pass it off as a headliner?

After reading yesterday about how Nexon is blaming PUBG for LawBreakers' poor sales, I've had an aching feeling that it's gonna show up tomorrow in a feeble attempt to boost player count.
Hmm I totally see this being the headliner for Feb. Their claim is so absurd, dur hur they are games with guns there for they are the reason our game is failing drooooool. They seem to be neglecting the elephant in the room known as Overwatch but yeah you be you Nexon.

I played the beta of Lawbreakers and thought "eh, this is a serviceable, generic free-to-play game" and then when it came out they were charging money for it

you mean like they did with H1Z1?
Touché. Although in H1Z1's defense, the number of people playing it globally right now isn't roughly the same as the average American classroom size:

But yeah, that was a rough headliner regardless.

I have insider info that the unlocks will contain at least one, possibly two, games someone bought during the sale.  Coincidentally, I dumped 39 million in Humble stock yesterday.

Really excited to get a sneak preview of the games that will get rebundled in 6-8 months.

Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs? The fuck?
Were they cleaning out the basement? I don't even know who I could give Tomb Raider 2013 away to.

I actually don't own the "Definitive Edition" to Sleeping Dogs. That was the remastered one, right?

Civ VI is solid if you don't own it. I assume they're planning on getting it into as many hands as possible so they can sell $25 expansions in another month or two.

So, dumb question, but what were the January unlocks?  I can't find any reference to that bundle on the site; the monthly page only shows the February stuff.

Tomb Raider (2013)

Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition

HIVESWAP: Act 1

Mr. Shifty

Cursed Castilla (Maldita Castilla EX)

And then some DRM-free game called Hitchhiker which seems to be the 6th game promised.

We all have TR and SD by now so I think this is comfortably the worst set of unlocks yet.

Didn't Foxhack buy Sleeping Dogs Definitive on steam the other day? lol. I got it when it was glitched on the Ubi store. Worst reveals for me in a long time, but I guess this had to happen at some point.

Hitchhiker (Non-Steam junk)

I have never heard of Hiveswap, Mr. Shifty, Cursed Castilla or Hitchhiker.  These unlocks seem pretty terrible but, since I almost bought Quantum Break alone for around $15 six weeks ago and had Long Dark wishlisted, I'm fine with my overall purchase.

Nice to see they went all out and included the Tomb Raider DLC.

Hiveswap and Cursed Castilla are interesting to me, and I was happy at $12 for the headliners.  I also, somehow, don't have Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider - though I have played them on consoles.

Reveals suck for me. Best thing in it is Cursed Castilla because that was on my wishlist. Looking at it I dunno why I even wishlisted it honestly. Tomb Raider should have been GOTY version. That said, the reveals were pretty damn nice and I am still ok with the bundle as a whole.
