Debating whether or not to buy the HWS... I own all of them except hard reset... I'm slowly losing the ability to justify throwing 50% of. Most of which I don't pay any attention too.

Note: Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem come together as a single Steam Key. It's basically a key for this bundle.

This is fine by me, since these were the two games that I bought the bundle for. But it might matter to some of you out there.

Fixed $6 "BTA"

Defend that!
Easy. It's not being called an average. It's just a fixed higher tier like Groupees. My guess is that the use of a figure that wasn't an even dollar amount and the historical average language caused confusion.

Doesn't mean I'm going to pay it, of course. $6 is way too much for me for those extra games, even if I didn't already have Hard Reset from IR.

I'm actually more curious to see if they keep up with the $5.80 fixed BTA than seeing what the actual deal is. I was surprised that they didn't keep up that fixed BTA trend with HiB9.
Well, every numbered Humble and Humble Android has ended up with an average higher than $5.80. Unless things really fall off, I'm going to guess that Humble will continue to use a floating average for their own main bundles, and keep a fixed tier option for some or all weekly sales and possibly some publisher-specific bundles. (I'd expect a Humble Origin Bundle 2 to use the fixed tier, for example.)

So we've seen Humble incorporate two changes post-Origin bundle, likely due to that bundle's low average. One is this new fixed tier and one is the need to BTA for bonus games. Will we see more changes? Perhaps more than two tiers for more bundles?

From firm defense of all-time-average to arbitrary-number-OK. You just like to argue don't you?

Not worth your time, kitty.

Gave my $1 to charity... don't even care to have the games, but I like HB.

Yikes as a Mac user the 6 bucks was already high, but only getting 3 games.... While they may be the best 3 is still too much for me. Plus while system shock is apparently a Jesus level awesome game, I have heard it hasn't aged very well.

I got it in a steam sale...even w/mods, it looks...archaic. Still a good game, from what I've played (haven't finished it). It basically IS Bioshock. But yeah, if you can't deal w/old poopy graphics, don't bother.

There's just nothing to defend. It's not nefarious. It's just a change.

I thought the concept of all-time average made sense, but threads here and elsewhere made it clear many didn't understand. So they changed it.

As I said, I'm just glad they didn't change it for the main bundles. Of course, the change to the way bonuses are done I'm not as glad about. (And I really hope that some of the weekly sales continue to use BTA instead of a high fixed tier.)

What's interesting is the main bundles are obviously of higher quality than the weeklies, but they are getting to the point that the weeklies are costing a lot more due to a locked BTA (which I guess now just means beat the amount)

I think triple tiers will be the norm in the future.

$1 gets 2-3 games

$4 gets 2-3 more games

$8-$10 gets a few more

It's happened a couple times, recently with the Deep Silver bundle.

As long as it's a good deal, I'm okay with it. Just as long as the tiers don't go above a 3rd tier locked bta of 10 dollars. Say, for example, in the origin bundle, they had Mirror's Edge, Medal of Honor, and Dead Space, Tier 2 had Paradise Ultimate, Dead Space 3, and Crysis 2, and tier 3 had Battlefield and Sims 3, I'd be really okay with something like that.

I must be blind because I played a few hours without even using mods and thought it was fine. Sure it isn't impressive or anything, but I've certainly played worse looking games. I've greatly enjoyed what I've played so far as well, though I am a big Bioshock fan so that's not a surprise. It's been cheaper so I can't say this is the best place to pick it up, but I most certainly think it's still worth playing.

If system shock was in the lower tier I would be in for a dollar, but I just don't think I will be pulling the trigger on this one myself

I enjoy it too. Haven't finished it yet, but it's definitely a title I can see myself returning to. But I can definitely see why the graphics may be considered a bit too primitive for some people's taste.

Well I already got the Serious Sam Bundle ages ago, but a few more pennies to CroTeam to keep Serious Sam 4 in the works is never a bad thing.

The only game on there that really interest me is System Shock 2, and I am NOT paying $6 for SS2.  I don't even think it's a Retro Shooter.  It's old yeah, but it's one of the games that redefines a genre.  Duke and Sam are Retro Shooters, hell Painkiller is a retro shooter throw it in a Bundle once in a while.  But System Shock? Nah.

So what I'm doing now is sitting here deciding if it's worth $1 for ANOTHER copy of Duke Nukem 3D, that I probably won't play, just like my GOG version.  I'm leaning towards maybe...

I'm leaning towards getting it for DN3D Megaton (namely for the other 3 Expansions - since I'm missing them) + SW Classic Redux.

And of course, so I could add 'em on Steam. ;)

Yeah, there is having them on Steam. I have DN3D on GoG, but that doesn't include expansions. I just don't know if I'd play Duke and Shadow Warrior. From what I remember, the controls were an older style that is not as easy as WASD + mouse look.

This is one of those bundles that, with an older BTA, I probably would have gone for at $3-$3.50 or so. System Shock at about face value plus Duke and Shadow Warrior for $1, with the hope of selling Hard Reset for $1. No chance of this being worth it at $6, and without System Shock maybe not even worth it at $1.

$6 is basically par value if you don't own any of the games: $2.50 for SS2, $2.50ish for Hard Reset (although enough codes floating around means it can probably be had cheaper), $1ish for the rest.  Humble still putting out good deals but it looks like the days of getting a truckload of amazing games for $1 are behind us -- especially with the new BTA requirement on future unlocks for the standard bundles.

I have DN3D: Atomic from GOG + Retail.

I also have SW: Complete on GOG, as well.

But, yeah - for $1 and Steam keys and the 3 missing DN3D expansions, I might be in...

I already have Hard Reset on Steam and System Shock 2 from Retail on disc.

They both use current FPS, wasd, mouse aim controls I believe.

They are modded out GOG releases basically.

Ahhh.... When you said Duke Nukem I thought maybe it was the original.  I haven't played that in ages.

I'd consider $1 for DN3D, but that game is one of only 3 games that are guaranteed to make me seasick after a few minutes of playing.  I'm sure others that I've just never played would do the same, but I have played many games similar to them that just don't make me sick.

The other two are Get Force Gemini and The Elder Scrolls Arena.

I actually beat Get Force Gemini.  That was a messy night.

:puke: (YES, I finally used that smiley :D/)

Hard Reset is an awesome hardcore PC shooter. Not too interested in some of the other games, but Hard Reset itself is almost worth the price of admission.

Duke never did that for me, but Wolfenstein will mess me up good.

Alright, I'm in for $1. And only $1. I'll do that much for the Duke even if he has betrayed me.

$1 for the super pimped out version of Duke3D and Shadow Warrior is damn good. I played through the 4 main episodes of Duke3D on Xbocks a couple of years ago, but I'm keen to try out all those wacky expansions.

Shadow Warrior is the one I'm really excited about playing. I remember playing the shareware of it back when I was 11-12 and giggling every time Lo Wang said something or sliced a bad guy in half. Always had to uninstall it after I was done so my parents didn't see that I had been playing a violent video game (I had to beg so they'd let me buy the original Command & Conquer). We'll see if SW is still as silly and fun as I remember it.

Regarding System Shock 2, some advice for those of you who are playing it for the first time: Choose the Navy path, focus on leveling up Standard Weapons/Hacking/Maintenance/Cybernetic Affinity. Only level up Strength to level 2-3 (enough to be able to equip the assault rifle) and Modify to 2-3 (enough to level your weapon up once, you find one-time use devices you can use to level it up the second and final time). Don't bother leveling up Research. You'll find an implant that temporarily gives you a +1 to the skill and that's more than enough to research some of the objects you find. You can recharge it when it dies. Save often. When you get to the deck and you're given a mission to "find codes in art terminals," look up the code online. Finding them on your own isn't worth the effort. That's all I can think of right now. I stuck to these guidelines and had fun. It's not an easy game, but it has it's own version of the Vita-Chambers from Bioshock or you can just quickload (which is what I did more often than not).

I went for the $1 on this as I own both SS games and Hard Reset and I know System Shock was just $2.50 on GOG and I missed it.  For some reason I'm strangely excited for Shadow Warrior (and the remake) and hope to give that a go later today.

I know this isn't exactly the spot.. but does anyone have an extra copy of hard reset? I have a bunch of steam/origin games for trade. PM me

R.A.W.: Realms of Ancient War

BTA:
The Testament of Sherlock Holmes

Wargame: European Escalation (+DLC)

Single code for the entire pack, whether Base or Base+BTA.

I already have System Shock 2, so I paid $6 for the rest. Anyone interested in buying System Shock 2 from me for $1.50?

EDIT: Gone.

Uh...

New games guys:

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken

A Virus Named TOM

Bastion

Limbo

All of them are BTA.

Personally, I'm a little wary of a game with "Virus" in it's name. (kidding!) :^o

And how am I the first to post about this?  I'm last to know everything!

For what it's worth... A Virus Named Tom is a nice little puzzler.

I already own all the BTA games except for 1 so I'm pretty glad I didn't kick in for the bonus games.
