I am not too impressed with GTA SA yet. How does everyone else like it?

I've played it for about 3 hours so far and have not seen anything that blows me away. Has anyone else see or done anything in this game that is simply AMAZING??!?!?

i think its awsome.. love GTA. Even tho this game is more like an upgrade..it still great. i've played prolli 6 hour into it..this game is HUGE! and i love huge games.. so much to do... plus the radio is badass

I think its pretty good. Yes its the same old stuff! But if you like it why change it. I have had a lot of fun running from the cops they are a lot tougher this year! Its the same gta as liberty city just a different city. This is liberty city with a vlack guy with tons more cursing and violence!

I've only had time to play for about an hour, but so far I would say I could go without the "having to eat part". The load times seem inordinately long as well, but that's probably because the XBox has spoiled me.

I haven't played it yet (hope to get it today), but I skipped Vice City... so it might impress me more than it will others. *shrugs*

Honestly, what did you expect? Just like Vice City, they essentially added a bunch of features that didn't really change the gameplay and packed it in a shiny new box. I don't really recall any reviewers or hype for this game saying that it will be much different from the other two.

I only played it for about hour last night before falling asleep (from being tired, not bordem). Now I'm sitting here at this work place waiting for 4:00 PM....

th infernus from both previous games. is now an acura NSX which i really like

The sultan. which is new in this game is a subaru WRX

i love the cars you can find in "market"(a place in western los santos near the bottom of the map)

I didn't care much for the theme of SA as opposed to to Vice City. Im sure that thats because I grew up durring the 80's. SA is just not that interesting to me.

not to be a jerk, but if you expected to be blown away or amazed, you got the wrong game.

GTA's gimmick has always been "OMG i cant believe you can do that!!" which when 3 came out was fresh, but what gave you the idea this game would "blow you away"?

as for everyone else, the gta fans like it and the haters hate it.

my copy is supposed to come tomarrow, but i dont have your high expectations from it, so ill prolly like it.

I don't know about the "haters hating it" and the "fans liking it" thing. I was never really a fan of GTA 3 or Vice City, but now that you can actually aim in this game, I am thinking about trying/buying this one.

I rented it yesterday cause it was at Blockbuster and I couldn't find anything else to rent.

To sum up what I think of the game;
Zzzzz.....

The game is the same old tired GTA3, I'm getting so boarded with this series. Rockstar needs to retire the series. Milking it like they are is only going to make it die faster. I'm very happy I didn't buy it. Rockstar should have stopped at Vice City and saved these few new features in GTA4. Two GTA games is enough per-Gen, over that is over kill.

That's exactly how I feel... I have no real interest in buying SA unless its at $10-$15 eventually. Its the same old rehash of what we've all done over and over again. I got bored before the end of GTA3, I got bored after an hour of Vice City, and now I'm bored of SA before I even pick it up.

ill agree with you in the part about the gta games being longer than they have any right to be, i played 3 and vc quite a bit, however, ive never beaten either of them.

i think these games should be 20 hours or so to complete all required missons.

It doesn't really have much to do with the length.. although that does add to the boredom. It's more a lack of fun.. there's a ton to do, but running from cops, stealing cars, shooting hookers etc... it gets horrendously boring after doing the same thing over and over and over again. Even if each of the games was 15 hours long, I still would never have played through all of Vice City.

well with a smaller amount of required missons it would cut down the the redundant feeling of the game.

i mean the basic missons are drive to location x kill person y and retreive package z, or drive y to x.

i played vice city up to the helicopter mission, where yu had to controll the RC copter into the construction site. that misson was so ridiculous, the copter controlled like bubsy 3d. it just killed the game for me.

I like the fact that Samuel L Jackson is a voice in the game.
I didn't pick up V.C either but for some reason I thought this was going to be different... 2 minutes in and it looks just like GTA3. Maybe I should have waited too. I guess I can trade it in at gamerush for $40 after 2 weeks. wish I could burn it to my harddrive but i don't know how

That's exactly where I put this game down! I would have to agree with Cornfedwb, I became bored with this series. I'll pick SA up cheap, but I know I will not complete the game. They just can't hold my interest.

I had no problem controlling the helicopter and thought that mission was fun.

The funnest part of the game to me is just riding around stealing, shooting, fighting with peds and cops. This is one game I like to use the cheat codes for. In the past I only did the missions to open new parts of the city and to learn my way around town.

I still think it is a fun game and I am glad that I bought it.

Personally, I'm impressed with the game so far. It's like Vice City, but it has so many more choices. With the different additions- clothing choices, tatoos, gang wars, car customization, sex appeal rating, casino games, great music, etc., it adds a neat new layer of depth to the game.

I grew bored with Vice City after a short while, and only time will tell if I get bored with San Andreas.

It received the highest rating I've ever seen IGN give out. A 9.9! (Not that I trust IGN- I purchased the game well before I read that review)

I did play basket ball for a few minutes :D For some reason I have lost what little sex appeal that I had. I have maxed out my muscles, and have my stamina at about halfway. I got an Afro (that might be it) and a Tattoo on my back, I also have a cheap clothes... maybe I just answered my own question. Afro + cheap clothes = no sex appeal.

I've owned the previous 2 GTAs. I really loved the first one because it was unlike anything I ever played. The second one was only interesting because Tommy V was able to talk. I never finished Vice City. I am interested in San Andreas, but I don't know if I want to spend $50+. I am kind of leaning toward Ratchet and Clank or Jak 3.

It's one of the few games this year that has lived up to the hype for me (this year). This game does nearly everything that Fable promised & failed on. All that early Fable talk about getting better at the things you do with your character, they're all in here. Drive around a lot & your driving skill improves, shoot just pistols and that skill gets really high, run a lot and your stamina increases.

They added a lot more to this game than they did with VC, and anyone who says otherwise hasn't given it a fair shake. This isn't just GTA:VC w/ a gangsta look, this is a true sequel that takes the core gameplay and improves in nearly every way imaginable.

Yeah, the missions have 3 flavors that you keep getting force fed. You mean you want me to follow this car and disable it? The only reason I ever played missions in III and VC was to unlock new areas of the map.

I'll pick this up when they release some sort of triple-pack for the xbox or whatever the hell they wind up doing.

yes it does look like gta3 sorta but the interiors are a lil nicer....yea this game is going to kill my ps2 lens since its loading something every second...thank god for my hdloader...its been running the game great so far..

The graphics are damn good for a PS2. Thats probably the most surprising aspect of this game. I didnt play GTA3/VC until a few months ago on xbox, and this looks like an improvement on those versions.

To me, this is is what Shenmue should have been....but its taken so many years to get to this point, i can still have respect for Shenmue the way it came out.

The world flows around you and without you. it gives the cities life, which it didnt really have for me for. Everything from interacting with peds while just walking by them, to hearing sirens behind you, but not after you.

The animation is much better this time around, which goes well with the better looking character model you control. CJ looks more human than the guy from vice city, and 100 times better than gta3.

The story so far is more interesting than the other two (for me), even though im still just doing the "training" missions.

Im just curious how much of this i'll actually get to play until Halo2 comes out...my head asplode

One thing nobody has said yet - the soundtrack is, once again, great. I'll probably spend a lot of time just driving around listening to the various radio stations.

Heck, I got bored before I even picked up VC...I've still yet to play it at all. I seriously doubt I'll ever get this game...

Dare I dream that the shiny "newness" of the GTA concept is beginning to wear off and gamers are returning to their roots (fun, inventive gameplay over shock value/"realism")?

I must confess - i actually really like this game.

i was a fan of III and VC, but i was always more interested in the open-endedness of the games' worlds than the gratuitous violence or language. I was not planning to pick this up (with Halo2 and SW: BF occupying me until xmas), but ended up taking the plunge only because of the TRU BOGO sale. It was definitely worth the (relatively) small amount i paid for it.

I could do without the whole gangsta thing (liked the goodfellas vibe better), but all i can say is that at least they're trying something different with the setting and storyline if not with the overall concept.

and yes, san andreas is HUGE!!

I love the game. I have a blast doing hookers, then stabbing them. I also enjoy long walks on the beach... and then stabbing female sunbathers while they are laying down on a towel.

GTA3 = Great.
VC = Alright, but got boring quick.
SA = Same old crap. Not worth my money.

I do think it is a well put together game, I think they did add enough new items to the gameplay such as keeping your character in shape, and the massiveness of having 3 cities separated by miles of highway, I look forward to that

... I ALSO tired of Vice City with the remote controlled helecopter, I have a short attention span as it is, that mission pissed me off, but I appreciate that it wasnt the standard "get from point a to point b type of mission"

Ive only got a few missions in so far... had them damn gang members in the car cut me off twice and pin me down and shoot me in the first mission
, but it is fun, Ive been kicked out of the pizza joint twice for causing mayhem

add to that the fact I only paid about 10 bucks for it, Im getting my money's worth

hay guys I know let's pick a super popular super awesome game but really say that we don't like it so much and don't see what all the fuss is so we'll be cool sound good?

I second that. My feelings exactly.

It is my favorite game. That was the same reaction I had to Vice City, and GTA3 before that. There is nothing particularly amazing about it, but is there in any game?

BTW, I got it for basically only $30 by trading in 5 cheap games at EB.

I don't really understand this... you were expecting something radically different?

Based on this, I assume after you played Gradius you never played any other scrolling shooters (e.g. Life Force, Gradius 3, R-Type, Ikaruga, etc). And after Mega Man 1, MM2, MM3, etc were tired old crap? I mean, the Metal Blade from MM2 is now the Shadow Blade in MM3, big deal. How could they even get to MM8? [/sarcasm]

In all seriousness, it's a series of games. Of course, they're very similar, just bigger and with new features. Many many series are like this, but people don't usually complain about the other ones...
