Hey, I know there's still a lot of 2011 to go, and we're staring down the big fall game season and Black Friday, etc..., but MAN, Best Buy has just been absolutely throwing down some crazy deals for the last 3 months or so. Their bid to earn more of the gamer's dollar has definitely proved true with me. Hell, I've basically already made Premiere Silver again with my spending in the last 2-3 months!

I mean, K-Mart has been stepped up with a lot of solid stuff (and the occasional GREAT deal like LA Noire, or the spend $120 get $50 SYWR), Sears has had some decent clearance stuff, Toys R Us has had their typical average to good gift card deals, and occasional pricing glitch, and Amazon still amazes us every now and then with an awesome Lightning Deal or their great on the fly pricematching abilities, but nobody has brought it like BB, in my opinion.

Feel free to talk among-st yourselves... :argue:

I haven't gotten a single thing from BBY. Evey time I see one of their posts, it's for some YMMV deal and my area (which has no other electronics stores) never has anything. The only worthwhile things are the CEs that cost 60 but not worth it because their spider-item-destroyer things complete ruin them.

BB has only been good for BDs lately thanks to the $5 coupon. Other than that, they're on thin ice with me for losing my business forever like TRU has.

I will say there Blu-Ray sales have gotten me to cancel several orders from Amazon. I eagerly await next weeks postings of the deals to see where I will make my purchases from.

Amazon or Gohastings.

If we are talking strictly sales then Gohastings without a doubt has had the best sales so far this year.

Although Amazon usually comes through with the best deals around black friday and the winter holiday months.

There have been a few Best Buy deals that have stuck out this year. For me it was mostly deals on their blu ray, so not a huge deal in the video game area.

Their huge deals for videos games are mostly local. When they don't want to carry a certain game anymore, they make them really cheap. Most recent example that I remember is from a few months ago. BlazBlue ContinumShift (bad spelling) was $5 at a local Best Buy. Another several other Best Buys that I went to the next week still had it priced at $30. There has been other great deals like that one, but they weren't anything I was interested.
their blu ray sales in may-june was amazing.
Not to mention that $5 off coupon that works on sale items (but it expires this month).

It's nice to see Best Buy have national clearances again. The last major clearance was in I think 2006 and after that it went to the YMMV individual store clearance. Depending on how Sears is the rest of the year for clearance (since before June, it wasn't that good) for a B&M store, it's either Sears or Best Buy for best retailer for me.

Kmart because Kmart gamer actually replies and gets shit done. Last time I was in Best Buy I wanted to blow my head off...

...and left after buying an iPad.

BB is lame. I haven't gotten much good deal from that place at all. If anything i'd say it's in the bottom of my list.

You mean like THIS guy?;)

I'll admit that Kmart had me for a second there with the LA NOIRE deal a while back, but once TRU fucked up that one ad and put that game AND a bunch of other recently released titles on sale 2/$50(even though it was a major mistake), then I had no choice but to return the one I bought from Kmart.

I'd rather have 2 games I may actually play for about $25 each versus a $20 free game that'll likely sit forever in my backlog and a $20 coupon I might completely forget about.

But Best Buy has definitely been stepping up their game recently. Between the $.49 to $4.99 music CD/DVD clearance(a 4 DVD Tom Petty or Rolling Stones DVD set for $5, anyone?) and the $14.99 :ps3:Black Ops Prestige Editions I'm hooked on buying stuff from BB again.

Also the fact that BB is almost willing to price-match anything (if you talk to the manager the right way, they would even match Amazon~ "I know it isn't in your policy to match online stores, but I'd rather spend my money at BB than at Amazon, blah blah blah... but it's okay if you don't want to match, I'll just have to buy it on Amazon then..."), I would go to BB with Walmart, TRU, GS sales and have them price-match. I have RZ certs and giftcards to use and the fact I can get the deals w/o spending cash is just... awesome.

At my nearest BB, I overheard an employee telling a customer that they did price match legitimate online stores.

I've been to Best Buy once this year, but I wouldn't be opposed to if they keep things up.

The $10 New Vegas/$5 Brutal Legend/etc. sale was awesome. I also picked up Dragon Age Origins for $7.50 that day which was definitely YMMV. The Buy 2 Get 1 sale afterwards looked pretty sweet as well since they had Blood in the Sand for $7.99 and some other good $10-$20 titles in there as well.

plus their Portal 2 deal...all the games that released with portal2 came with at least $10 gc & $10 credit. Most of the PS3 exclusives got a sale that took $30 off the previously released exclusives several which were already on sale so $20 instead of $30 or 2 games for $80. There last @gamer mag had the best deals on damn near everything $15 AC:B & DA2 50% off used games made alot of top games $20. Their trade in deals were the truth till they just made an "adjusment". There's room to improve but I can't complain with most day 1 games $40 + $10 credit.

Edit: Dungeon Siege III $25, TDU2 $10, Tomb Raider Collection $25 2-3 weeks after release

Now it looks like BB is going to make me eat crow with their upcoming changes to the Gamer's Club. I am really, really gonna miss that bonus $10 on every $150 spent on video games. I've spent well over 2k there in almost exclusively video games this year alone, so that's well over $100 in certs earned right there, plus preorder bonuses/GC offers, plus the usual points I earn with Premiere Silver.

I am still going to be availing myself of most of their deals since they are one of the few retailers to still offer tangible rewards bucks for making a lot of purchases, but not nearly as much now. Here's hoping they really kick it up for the fall releases/Black Friday...they might still have my vote if they don't screw that up too much.
