The first one is about a dad ant having to go through levels finding his baby ants before the time runs out. If the time runs out, he gets zapped and you lose. I think it had Ant in the title. That was for the SNES. Another game I remember is a PC game (I think). It showed a 3-d, green gremlin on the front with a really menacing grin. I really have no idea if it's for the PC, or a system, but in 1995-1996, only PC games had pretty 3-d graphics.
 
First one had to be SimAnt. The second one might have been one of the Gargoyle games? That's about the best I can do for you there (which probably wasn't much)
 
Would the 2nd one be DaggerFall?
