SCRANTON - A Maryland man who rode a bicycle 180 miles to northeastern Pennsylvania to have sex with a 15-year-old girl faces four years in prison.
A judge sentenced 26-year-old William Wagner, of Havre de Grace, Md., on Wednesday. Wagner pleaded guilty in February to unlawful contact with a minor.
Police said that Wagner rode a bicycle to Scranton last June to meet up with a 15-year-old girl he met on the Internet.
Investigators said that he slept at a baseball field while in Scranton and had sex with the girl several times there. After he left, the girl told her parents, who called police.
The girl told police that she at one time considered herself to be "in a relationship" with Wagner, and he knew she was only 15.

Pedophile is the wrong word. That would be a sexual interest in pre-adolescents. Being attracted to teenagers makes him an ephebephile. The difference is pretty huge as it would be a legal relationship in some parts of the country but there is scarcely any place in the western world that will look approvingly upon sexual intercourse with pre-adolescents.

Change the ages a bit and you've got a summer teenage antics movie.
 
The girl was 15. I don't know about you guys, but when I was that age, girls were having sex. It isn't that big of a stretch to have sex with a 26 year old. A 26 year old having sex with a 15 year old is against the law, but to call it pedophilia is twisting the meaning of the word. I have no doubt that the girl was willfully in the relationship and was at least 50% responsible for initiating the sex. This was just a simple matter of a boyfriend/girlfriend getting together and it just happened to be against some religion-based law.

The first mystery, before telling her parents, was giving it up for a guy with so little to recommend him. Unless this is a seriously unattractive girl, she shouldn't have any trouble finding a perv with a decent car and money to spend on her. If I were her father I'd be pissed she did this and even more pissed she let herself go so cheap.

Yeah girls were having sex at that age, but with other 15,16,17 year olds. It is against the law because a 15 year old is still a child and a 26 year old is a grown ass man. And since a 26 year old is a grown man and so is a 45 year old is a grown man then i guess its cool for a 45 year old to nail a 15 year old too huh. It is against the law for a reason. Not cool, and I dont have kids but I know if it was my daughter or Im sure your daughter, you wouldnt be so chill about it.

It's more of a property rights issue than one of protecting a child. The idea that a 15 year old isn't ready to start a family is a fairly recent shift in human history and hasn't taken over in much of the world. Delaying childbearing is a luxury of the modern world where prolonged lifespans and educational opportunities change the rules from the natural state of the human animal.

The difference between the 26 year old and the 45 year old is that the elder male is likely a more suitable mate in terms of status and wealth making for a better ability to support and young bride and her growing brood. This is why evolutionary psychology regards the concept of the mid-life crisis as nonsense. A male in his early 40s is doing exactly what his genetic programming tells him to do when his same-age mate has passed menopause or soon will. The accumulation of status and wealth is wasted on a mate who will produce no more issue and any she has produced are already past the age of independence.

Ugly from a cultural perspective but nature only cares about perpetuating the genes. The 45 year old in the red corvette cruising for babes is doing exactly as nature intends.

its the double standard of things. its always assumed that if a young girl sleeps with an older man that hes somehow manipulated her into doing it. just like if an older woman sleeps with an younger guy then of course the younger guy wanted it so its not the same crime.
