I finally purchased a Home Theatre System, What Ya Think

fancy! Wireless speakers. can you later update how it works for you? congrats i think it is a good investment.

yeah, I'll be glad to update how it works,

I'll have it Friday, won't be home till evening tho, but i'll update ASAP

The 5 disc DVD player integrated into the receiver portion is going to sap power from your speakers, taking away from the overall sound. The HTiB speaker quaility is usually nothing to brag about anyway, and if it has a passive subwoofer (most HTiB's do), then your sub isn't going to be what you're probably expecting.

HTiB's are 'dorm room systems', not meant for a full-sized living room or den. If you're in a public place like a dorm room or apartment complex where you want sound that's better than your tv speakers but don't want it to rattle the walls or wake your neighbors, HTiB's are okay. If otherwise, building a system is a MUCH better way to go.

Edit: Onkyo is a brand Circuit City carries, roughly comparable to Yamaha (Best Buy's alternative to Onkyo). I would go with either Onkyo or Yamaha before going with Sony. Sony has great video, but imo sub-par sound compared to the rest of the field. For the price, though, it isn't a terrible purchase. I'm just a little picky about my sound.

Yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that I live in an apartment complex. This is going into my bedroom. I'm not looking to blow the walls out or anything. I just wanted something to hook my PS3, 360, Wii, TV, etc up to.

and one that I thought was better then my current one, thats a 65 dollar Target sale from 3 years ago, Kawasaki..lol
Eh, I'd pass on a Sony HTiB.

Go Onkyo!
Exactly what he said, Im planning on getting thier 7.1 speaker set, and one of thier new recievers this year (probably the 605) for my collection, will probably run me about 450 for the receiver, and 230 for the speakers

Kawasaki...lol

I have an Onkyo 7.1 system in my theater and I love it. Shakes the whole house, but still has clearly defined high end. For the price I don't think you can do much better. ($500 through crutchfield 2 years ago)

OP, for what you paid I actually believe you got a very good deal. I had a Samsung HTiB in my apartment and enjoyed the hell out of it....until it straight up stopped working.

Wireless speakers will definitely help get rid of a little bit of the rat's nest of wires that come with having a multisurround system. I am curious though about how many additional inputs the unit has though.

This thing is really nice, it's 10x's better then my old system was

The sound is incredible, the subwolfer is fucking huge

The speakers are only half wireless (?) they still have wires, but they go into a power box of sorts, which has a wireless transmitter connected to them, which gets teh signal from the one connected to the player. It just basically elimantes the need to run wires across the floor.

The PS3, 360, and Wii all sound great in it.

I put in a three doors down DVD, that I bought tht's in HD Sound, (concert from texas) and I felt like I was at the show..

Bottom line this system is amazing, I don't care what the haters say.. I think it was a good buy

Glad you like it OP, always somebody out there waiting to tell you to buy brand X instead of whatever you bought. As long as it sounds good to you it was a good purchase.

Nobody told anyone to buy anything, I just know reviews wise Onkyo is the best... but the OP wanted wireless so its different for him. Glad he is happy, I myself am buying the Onkyo 7.1 speakers and seperate SR605 reciever, then I'll be happy

Besides the topic is I purchased a HTS, what ya think...

... amd the fact that so MANY CAG's mentioned Onkyo should tell you another thing...
