I fixed the RROD myself

Not really. They're starting to send out the newer 360s as refurbs. They don't RROD as often, yet they still do it. (You're likely to get a year or two out of one.)

Well then, you just made my point. If a "repaired" console is likely to fail from the same defect...

Well an update to everyone, it still works to this day with no freezing. Sorry for grave digging, but I was asked to keep this thread updated. In otherwards: No RROD, or any problems have occured yet.

I had a friend who's RRoD a week before they announced the extension. He opened it and tried to fix it himself and failed to fix it. He sent it in and they didn't say anything about a voided warranty.

My launch 360 was out of warranty so I did the x-clamp fix. $15 and a couple hours is much better than sending it off for weeks in my opinion. Just wish i hadn't bought a replacement system since the RROD 360 has been running like a champ. So now I have 2 360s...oh well.

That's true, but like I said before no one outside of MS and it's repair facilities do NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES to fix a RRoD 360!

If any of you still care, I have not experienced any problems with my 360, except that my Disc Drive won't come out sometimes, it just needs a tiny bit of help.

So... Yeah I think I can safely assume I fixed it from the RROD, and no it did not red ring after 2 weeks of me repairing it.
