I found old receipts before I was a CAG'er.

I may have registered early, but I didn't truly become a CAG'er and start posting until June or July of 04.

Some of this stuff just hurts.

EB:
Date: 10/03
WWE Here Comes The Pain (PS2) - Presell Pickup - 15% employee discount = $42.49 + $4.24 (9.75%) tax = $46.63

Worth it? Absolutely.

EB:
Date: 12/03
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (XB) - same stuff as above - total = $47.

Worth it? Yeah, brother's Christmas present, he played that game to the core.

This one hurts.

KB Toys:
Date: 10/01
Devil May Cry (PS2) - $49.99

Worth it? At the time, absolutely, but ouch.

I like this one, it's pretty cool. EB was running some promo at the time.

EB:
12/03

Traded in (all PS2):

True Crime - $31 (orig 25)
Sims - $18 (orig 12)
Celebrity Deathmatch - $13 (orig 7)
GTA3 - 9 (orig 3)
GTA:VC - 13 (orig 7)
Total: 84

Got:

Need for Speed: Underground ($42.49 after employee discount) and THUG ($42.49 after employee discount)

Total money out of pocket - $1.07

Worth it? Looking back, not so much for NFSU. I didn't play it much then, on PS2, but I play it a ton now on XBox. I wore THUG to the core, though.

This next receipt is when I got my XBox. I can't believe I accepted the values on some of these, but I did. You guys should be excited, you get to see what my very first XBox game was.

So, what do you think? Have I always been a CAG'er?

Why'd I post all of this? So you guys could laugh at me, and i'm bored.

Yeah, I found some of my old receipts, too. I usually keep the reciept in the DVD case with the game. It's crazy what I used to spend on games. It's funny when there is a game I know I can get for $5 now and I paid $50 at one time. Or, to find an old receipt for a game that you wish you still had......like Guardian Heroes on the Sega Saturn. Ah, memories.

Speaking of Guardian Heroes, i remember paying like 20$ for that sucker like in '96-97. Now it's just sitting in my basement, gaining some value.

"General Gaming" seemed to fit since I wasn't discussing a deal or bragging.

:(

you still have the receipts!!!

hit up the pricegrabber.com rebates to apply some retroactive cheapness to your pre-CAG excess
Ouch. Thats painful. Its ok, though. I spent $60 on Doneky Kong 64 when the first came out. That was a LAME game...
Paying $70+ for street fighter turbo after paying $70+ for street fighter 2. Now that was getting played.

TN tax is 9.25...kills when you have to buy something thats worth quite a bit...almost ten %...when I bought my xbox for 250 it was almost 25$ with tax! Ouch!

I paid top dollar for some of my N64 games back in the day. Can't remember but I may have even paid more than $50 for OOT.

But I haven't paid more than $20 for any of my Xbox games (exepting DDR: Ultramix)

I paid $100 for my GBA when it came out because I preordered from a friends store (funcoland) to help him out, even though I later found out that the place I worked at (CC) sold them for $90. I also paid $65 for Conker's BFD on the day of release, but only paid $40 for my N64 bundle (n64, mem. card, rumble pak, smash bros., mario 64, and diddy kong racing)...which I bought from someone who may or may not have used the money for drugs.

Shoulda put it in dvd deals just to fluster folks

The only thing I remember playing full price for is Mega Man 64, for, of course, N64. Eh, I liked it. So w/e. I remember getting ripped off a long time ago though.... I bought Metroid(NES) from TRU, and I couldn't get past one part, so I thought it was broken. I returned it, several times, and couldn't get past it any time(still thought it was broken). Eventually, I got tired of returning it. I remember the manager told me that I couldn't get my money back, because I got tired of returning the broken game. So I just left it there, figuring it was broken, and they got free money from me. Damn assholes, taking advantage of a 4-5 year old

My county (which I don't really feel comfortable naming on the net) is 9.75%. Every other county, as far as I know, is 9.25% as you said. They promised to lower the sales tax back down to 9.25% in January, 2003. Obviously, they didn't.

we have all had those games where we paid fll price and dont mind it. For me it was mario DD. I paid the full 50 and dont regret it one bit.

The only thing I find acceptable nowadays to pay full price for is Nintendo's first party games, just because I still love them so!

PLus you know they won't go down in price for a while. Gamerush and all the deals there have been excellent for getting these games mega cheap.

How about when virtua racing came out for the genesis?? It was $100, but I didn't get it. That's the most expensive "new" game that I ever heard of.

Got Raw for xbox for 50.....I did play it a lot but was hurting when I saw the price drop so much after just a few months

I paid $50 for Fuzion Frenzy at KB, even though I coulda used it to buy a Pokemon Blue and Yellow N64 + Pokemon Snap NEW for $50 at TRU. I could've of gotten Fuzion Frenzy at that time at EB Games in the same mall preowned, for $34.99. Meh, I eventually lost the game to a friend.. Could've been worst, I almost got Cel Damage instead. I don't regret the purchase much, but it was just 2 months later when it dropped to $19.99 MSRP. Kind of lame because I could've got it at Circuit City also for $49.99, but save myself mileage. It was just that I never bought any other game at KB before, and thought it would be cool.
