Spoon, I'm so sorry man I really am. I've had things stolen from me as well, but never anything of that much value. If there is anything we CAGs can do just let us know. Maybe we can start a "Get Spoon back on his feet" fund or something for you. I'd definitely donate some games and/or cash if that idea flew. Let us know. I hate thiefs more than anything man. Why does it always happen to the good people?

doubt this will help but... if you are still a student are are by some chance still under your parents insurance, their homeowners will cover you wherever you are paying rent. Its much like if a maid or someone steals shit from you while staying in a hotel, you are still covered.

After reading the letter in EGM where the guy talks about people starting a PayPal and game donation fund to restore his collection, I started imagining floods of these threads popping up everywhere. Like a brilliant con that nobody realized until just then: kind of like the million dollar homepage.
 
So you were robbed yesterday, on Martin Luther King Jr. day?

Assuming that the robbers were black, I would find that ironic that on the day they are supposed to celebrate being one step closer to being treated equally, they go and rob someone.

Not saying that they were black, but the possibility is still there.

That sucks. Look at it this way; You can start over, live your life the right way. I'm no buddist, but less possesions can de-clutter your life. Think about what NO possesions can do.

I'm really shocked that the police actaully dusted your house for prints. I'd say that it's a good sign that they're actaully willing to help out. I had my MP3 player stolen from my car and I told the cops that I know he touched some things to get to it, but they didn't do shit.

Plus he made a whopping 2 posts on this site before this thread started. :D
 
damn that sucks to hear man. reminds me when i had my ps2 slim stolen, MvC2, and some other ps2 games stolen, also a pair of my kicks & cash. hope they find out who did this to ya.

Not to be an ass, but would it be possible to get a photo or scan of your copy of the police report? Just as a little added validity before anyone jumps to conclusions, since unfortunately what we read on the interenet is not always true.
 
Man, I hope everything works out for you. That just plain sucks, and I wish I could put a positive spin on it but... nope, just suckage.
 
Maybe suspicious, maybe not...either way we have his gamertag SpOoNdAmOnKeY...so if we see it online we'll know either he or the thief is online.

Yeah, after reading that EGM article, I'm definitely skeptical with this. You may want to check who signed into your live account an hour after you posted here last night. Kind of weird since you haven't played a game since November 16th....Hmmmm:whistle2:k

Wow just read that EGM on the can before logging in today and was thinking along the same lines.

Reminds me of some tool pretending to lose his family in 9/11 on a worms2 cases ladder before he got outed by some investigation.

Although I'm skeptical I give the OP the benfit of the doubt to begin with

Does anyone here remember a thread (I'm thinking it was around when I joined (So 2005, maybe 2006)) where some guy either had his games stolen or lost them in a fire or something (gee some great memory I have). And if I remember correctly people donated money to him on Paypal...

I'm starting to think I made it up in my head, since I am unable to find it.....
 
I can't believe it. I just came home and I was burgalized of ALL my games/systems. Sucks big time. If anyone needs my paypal info to help me out just let me know. What timing. They also took my porn so if I can bang any of your attractive gfs/moms I'd appreciate it.

im sorry if this is in the wrong thread.I know i have a low post count,but ive been a member for a while.Id take a pic of the report,but i dont have.I have to pick it up in a couple days they said.Also..they stole my digital camera..so ill have to see what I can do.I understand how some are skeptical,but im truly not kidding.Right now im trying to find a decent cheap computer so i can have some contact with the world.My roommate prob will want his laptop back.Maybe ill get a DS or something just to have some gaming of some sort.I appreciate the nice words from you guys.
 
Spoon, I have a decent computer that I'm willing to donate to you. You'd need a harddrive and a monitor, but the actual computer is quite solid. Let me know if you're interested. It's like a 2.4GHZ Pentium 4 I believe. I used it for almost two years but then just recently upgraded. Let me know!
 
goomba,i really appreciate it.I mean right now i can kinda use anything.My only stuff that got left was my iPod(because I had it with me at work,my clothes,and a few DVD's that i guess fell out of the shelf when they took everything.im sitting in the living room now..feels weird.My job also never lets me off..so i get to go to work and worry...but i guess i can use the money to try and get some stuff back..Like i said.maybe ill try to get a DS or something so i can have some type of games to play.I come home and theres nothing to do..driving me nuts
 
I'm going to be honest with you man, the police aren't going to be any help at all really. Unless they get lucky it sounds like these guys have done this before. They knew exactly what to look for and take and when / how to do it. Hell they weren't even noticed in broad daylight!

The fact that they dusted for prints means nothing. It's mandatory for pretty much any event. My G/F's house was broken in twice. The first time the place was ransacked (down to the 100 pounds of change in the change jug) and then the next time my G/F's mother, brother, and sister were home. The guy came right up to them so a description was even able to be given. Still nothing to this day.

The thing you gotta remember though, things are just that ... things. All replaceable. You sound like a young guy, you'll have your chance to get it all back don't worry man. Pretty much do what has already been sugested. Check all areas (call up / notify etc etc) within 25 miles at the least. It's more then likely someone who knows or has seen you had tons of stuff but knows the area itself very well not to get caught.

Possibly it could have been a one armed hairy Eskimo with a British accent ... but no ... assume he's black just so you would have an excuse to make that "ironic" comment you've been saving up to use.... nice
 
sounds a little suspicious...pretty shady to say the least.

this seems very similar to the EGM forum incident reported in the latest issue of the magazine. a little too close for comfort, if you ask me. the difference between the two scenarios is that the EGM reader who garnered such support from fellow forum members was able to since he was an established and contributing member of the ingroup. the rapport was already there. however, in this case we have some random guy nobody knows going to multiple forums on newly-joined accounts fishing for sympathy and, dare i say it, handouts.

i'm really sorry if you're in the clear, spoonda, but for the moment you look quite suspect. i mean, if i were robbed clean, the last thing i would think of would be to log on to gaming websites and posting my sob story.

This entire thread just screams close me.

Even if you did get robbed, are we just supposed to send money and games to every dick, harry and sally that joins CAG and says they got robbed. If you were a full fledged 1000 post member I would be more inclined to believing you. But you come here with 2 posts,and tell us you got robbed. Right?
 
I really did get robbed,but dont have the police report yet.They said we have to pick it up from the station in a couple days.As far as the low post count..you can see ive been a member for a while..not like i just logged in and made an account.I made the post here and on 1up b/c those were the 2 forums i frequneted regularly.Like I said before also..im not asking for handouts.I was just upset and needed maybe some help on what to do or something.I just felt like telling someone.I know with the recent EGM thing ppl think im full of it,but im truly not.As soon as I get the report ill have to find someone with a digital camera to post it up.Once again,thank you for anyone who has had any kind words.
 
Maybe I missed it, but when did Spoond say he wanted stuff? All he did was share a story and that was that. Why are people becoming detectives and calling him suspicious. I'd completely understand if the OP also had asked for some kind of help (as in money, donations, etc)..then I'd agree w/ people.

Some of you need to lighten up and stop worrying about people's post count AND always feel like someone is trying to scam somebody...:roll:

haha yeah..Renters insurance will definitely be getting signed up for.I assumed my roommates father(the owner of the house we stay in) had some sort of insurance.He does but it dosent cover theft.Ill get the renters..though not rly much left to take now.

Also on a side note..i called Microsft to cancel my xblive subscription mainly b/c my CC info is saved on there for the marketplace.Yet cancelling that dosent close the cards..they were still saved..so now i had to call my CC company and get the card number I have cancelled and they said theyd mail me a new one.Seems since like I moved out stuffs being going crazy.Ive only been moved out for about 6 months.My cars a/c died,then i got Mono,then the transmission died,2 months after fixing the tranny i crashed it,now all my stuff gets stolen.Im just wondering what i did..did someone curse me?I hope like they say,it can only go up from here.
