I hate Nintendo

wait how does this work?

"Silicon Knights ends Nintendo exclusivity deal" => I hate Nintendo

makes no sense

p.s. silicon Fatties sucks.

*Looks for article on Nintendo ending its relationship with Rare.

They lost most of my buisness, and my respect that day.

Silicon does not suck. They are much better than half of Nintendo's first party teams.

and yea I am pissed seeing as Nintendo pretty much just stated they do not give a fuck about anyone over the age of 12

Hey wait, lets see what Rare has done since breaking away from Nintendo...

Oh that's right, they haven't published anything but crap!
Yes Rare was great on the N64 with Goldeneye and Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Conker... but they really haven't done much for the XBOX now anyway.

Can you not read????
SK were the ones to end it.

and i am over 12 and hate anything M rated and stealth crap.

and for wanting things geared for people over 12, you seem to have a sub-6th grade reading level.

I can read. I know that SK ended the agreement, but it was Nintendo's fault they wanted to leave. The advertising budget Nintendo gave their games was about 3 bucks.

SK probably felt like they were mistreated as they should. Their games would have sold a lot more if NOA would have put some wieght behind them with some ads (I still see Ninja Gaiden ones and it came out before MGS)

just because someone ends an agreement does not mean it was their fault. It sometimes has to do with the party they agree to not providing all the benefits and promises they hoped for.

Also its not mature games I am only looking for, mainly I want something that is challenging and a good story (like a Max Payne). Just because it is bloody does not mean anything ( Rainbow Six 3 is one of my favorite games and I hardly ever see blood)
But Nintendo Loves You.
I know. They love me because I am a whore for their games. It just pisses me off that they think people do not grow up.

The three games I want the most are MP2, Killer 7 and Resident Evil 4. I just wish that Nintendo would realize that there are more games than ones for those below 12.

Also NOA needs to start bringing more of the original software from Japan to America (Mother 1+2 seeing as most have never played Mother ) (Legend of Starfi) etc.

I doubt Silicon Knights is completely blameless in this. I think that the glaring omission of GBA connectivity in Twin Snakes didn't help Silicon Knights. Nintendo had been lauding GBA connectivity in the game, and pointing it out as a major selling point. It can't have gone over well that Silicon Knights wasn't able to come to the table with something.

I do not think Mario Kart used it though. I do think connectivity could have been cool as a constant CODEC feature or a map but in a metal gear game there is no real place for it.

Also I think Konami had a lot more to do with rushing TTS than Nintendo did as Konami did not want conflicting sales between TTS and MGS 3

Uh.. I grew up playing Nintendo's titles as a kid, and I don't have this huge "need for mature titles" that you seem to be completely driving home. I don't look at a game and think" Hmm, that's pretty kiddy right there, but that game over there is mature, I think I'll go ahead and like that because that's what I'm supposed to like since I'm "all grown up now".

I want RE4 as much as anyone else, but it has nothing to do with it being a mature title. I love my Zelda and Mario too. Just because I'm older now doesn't mean I can't still enjoy the same type of game I always have (in this respect).

I know that. I understand that. Its not a kiddy thing at all. I do know that if even Nintendo refuses to continue supporting Mature titles, that means that game wise we will get even more shortchanged than we already are.

I love SK but I know this will have the trickle down effect meaning less titles coming out for the cube.

Also Dennis did you ever play Max Payne? It was incredibly cheesy , but the gameplay was top notch and much better than most things on the market

Eh, as far as the mature battle.. I don't really see it. SK was just *selected* to do the MGS remake - someone else could have done it.

Eternal Darkness was a bomb - mature or not, it was a bomb. I liked the game to a certain degree, but the magic system was broken and the combat was bland. I liked the idea of the story, but there are times at which the presentation falters. What could have been a fantastic game was only a mediocre-good game.

I do not think Mario Kart used it though. I do think connectivity could have been cool as a constant CODEC feature or a map but in a metal gear game there is no real place for it.

The thing was, Nintendo wasn't promising and hyping up connectivity for Mario Kart... they were for TTS. Nintendo doesn't like to be made the fool. Silicon Knights is a good developer, but they aren't great. I'd be much more worried if Retro just decided to walk away.

Also I think Konami had a lot more to do with rushing TTS than Nintendo did as Konami did not want conflicting sales between TTS and MGS 3

That's probably very likely as well... Of course, this all just might be Silicon Knights were getting too big for thier britches and forgeting what there place was... and trying to force thier will on Nintendo.

no it's not. Things are looking up.

lose the dead, crappy game making weight. Fund good projects, now NOA will have money not spent on publishing crappy SK games and voids to fillin, which hopefully means they'll bring over the good orgiinal title from japan which they've been neglecting

I can agree with that, but NOA is too selective. Starfi and Mother are two games that should have already come here

Ok rare is a little out of the production loop. Does it mean they cant make any more good games? No.

My point was, without rare nintendo had no good 2nd party franchises, and some of it's own franchises were crippled(Donkey Kong mainly) will we see a decent iteration of the DK series(not a crappy drum machine game) soon? Doubtful.

Banjo and kazooie GBA is a decent game, and is not crap... as is SFA(a stupid idea though) for GC.

Rare is just a name anymore most of the peopel have went there own way and if i am not mistaken have started work on other GC titles.

Just a name

First of all, we don't know the REAL reason why SK wanted out. We can't blame Nintendo YET. But if I see Eternal Darkness on an Xbox, I will be forever pissed.
As an xbox owner, i would be pissed if ED showed up too. TTS would be an ok port.
Why would you port a game that is already on the Xbox to the Xbox? Metal Gear Solid 2 is so similar that would be a waste!

Yeah! And FF VII-IX are the same, DMC and DMC 2 might as well be the same game! Let's not neglect identical games like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine either!

You know, if Nintendo REALLY wanted to make some cash and REALLY wanted to please its fanbase, they'd start developing SNES games again. MY god, that'd be the sweetest thing ever.

Eh, I don't care. I'm a diehard Nintendo fan and I love my GCN but Eternal Darkness was just meh and although I like MGS:TS, I believe that any competent developer could handle a project like this. No big loss.

Silicon Knights was a good developer, and their exclusivity will be missed. However, I really don't see how the gamer loses out on 2nd parties deciding to break exclusivity deals. So what that the new SK game isn't on the cube? Maybe they have a game that'd be better suited for a different console.

Well I for one am pissed at nintendo for one reason.
Much like rare they are pretty retarded in making a game company a power house and not buy it.Look at rare, nintendo made it into the 300 million plus company that mirosoft bought. Rare wasnt a 300 million company b4 nintendo showed up . It just seems bad economics to build up a company you dont own.
Of course rare i aint crying about for the fact most rare staff broke off and formed zoonami.

I think SK broke off to soon, like really they expect a huge blockbuster off a game that is 5 years old with better gfx? Much like most Gc titles it will will sell for a longer period, look at super monkeyball, it still in both NA and japan selling in the charts.Pretty good consideirng it was a launch title.

I think nintendo really needs to go the way of buying studios.Much like the dark days of the n64, both nintendo and rare did pretty good for supplying the systems with A+ titles. If they were smart they would of bought rare and sega. With both those companies under the nintendo wing, they really wouldnt need many other 3rd parties.

Have you seen the games for the GBA ? you can probably count the games that WEREN'T developed for the SNES originally on 2 hands.

I was disapointed when I learned that Nintendo let SK go. They did great work with ED, and I was looking forward to Too Human. Nintendo needs second party companies. They cant surrive only on their first party stuff. They really should have kept SK and Factor 5, and perhaps bought out Bioware(for RPGs), and mabey even a larger development house (such as Sega, Capcom, or Ubisoft).

Can you blame SK really ? from a $$$$ prespective they spent a better part of 2 years making ED 2x. It was pretty much complete on the n64 b4 rewored for the GC.

It pretty much the same reason nintendo didnt buy rare, they had first option, but declined for the fact of finacial records. Gaming does come down to the $$$$ from a business perspective.

they still do my man... its called GAMEBOY ADVANCE! ... sigh...

oh? you mean on the big screen?(TV).. its called GAMEBOY PLAYER... sigh...

What it comes down to is money, N needs it and they have to cut their losses, They;re probably saying "great atleast this means we dont have to put out for them now." Nintendo has said it before that they need to refocus their energies towards making the best games they can. It's the only way they can hold their place in the market.

As for "kiddy games" They've alreay made attempts to shake the image that they only make games for kids. They dont exclusivly, it's just that many of their games are designed to be somewhat "asexual" and focused more on "fun activities" rather than the next way to blow holes on an enemy, (this is largly concidered by N to be "the easy way out", just make a game where you kill people, and get it out there to make some money) this is not something they like to do.

The immpression is that because they dont do "mature games" that the only other thing they can make are kids games. They can be anti-violance all they want and still make good games, this is not an impossible feat, but they need to create games that focus on action and things that get the blood pumping regardless... a flood of mario games or games where the main hero is a child isnt exactly doing it for them and it's certainly not helping their reputation.

I was disappointed when I heard SK was leaving, but then I started to think... What games had they developed for the GC? The only two that came to mind were ED and TTS. Granted, they were good games, but I'm sure some other developer will pick up the slack. Now if Retro were to leave, then I'd really be upset.

I for one don't mind the lack of M rated games. I can't wait for Paper Mario, Zelda 2, MP2, and Monkey Ball 3 to come out. All of those with the exception of MP have been referred to as "kiddie" games, but they have still been excellent. There is no reason for me to get a PS2 or an XBox since I can play most of their good games on my PC anyway.

I would have to agree with solinari on this one........This whole differentiating between adult and kids games and saying GCN is for kids is stupid. Nintendo is awesome for the same reasons it has always been. Zelda, Metroid, and the Mario titles......do you people really not play these games? I feel for you if you don't. I have all systems and enjoy each equally. I still recommend PS2 as the basic system for people because of the library of games and popularity of the system with others. If you are a true gamer and don't care for or play Nintendo products, you lose!

Maybe SK thrived the last couple of years because of Nintendo's stringent requirements for quality. Wouldn't be surprised if they slacked off after this (similar to Rare). I am a gamer that agrees with THE DARK KNIGHT. If you are a true gamer and you love great games with no preference to platforms, you must own the products that Nintendo produces. When they do things right, they do them the best...They just need to do them right more often and be more willing to spend the big bucks upfront in order to see sales increases on the backend. Maybe they'll try this for the next-gen...One can only hope and pray.

I'm not exactly sad about this. Maybe its because I own every console, and maybe its because SK releases games that are slightly not done. Or they don't release games, I mean they've been working on Too Human since the first PS, and I bet that they don't even get it out for the next round of consoles. Nintendo still has the best first party developers, and their second party are still damn strong with the likes of Retro. Truthfully Nintendo seems to have good timing of getting out of these exclusivity deals. Had they kept Rare they would have been paying some ungodly sum for Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and Factor 5 had definitely been getting stale. I don't necessarily agree with Nintendo in the direction they take their console, but its their company and I will continue to be slavish to them as long as they give me Zelda, Mario, and Metroid.

I used to be a nintendo fanboy and hate all other consoles, but then I spent all my money and bought DC, PSX and later PS2, X-Box, and then I realized I was wrong, other consoles are awesome. But one thing is for sure and I hope will never change, you can't beat most of nintendo's first party games. I don't really care what age they are developed for, I'm 20 and still love Mario, or Metroid, or Zelda! Sometimes it's nice to sit back and let intense "adult" games have a rest and play something simple and just plain fun. SK or not, nintendo will get my business, SK like RARE isn't doing so hot, remakes should wait until the next-gen at least (Waiting only one generation isn't that long) and I can't get into Eternal Darkness. But thats just my opinion, and I can see where others are comming from.
