I have a plan...

Ok, basically I have $20 on my edge card. I asked if I could get the money out and take it, they tell me NO. I thought all hope was lost, but then I realized I could buy something, and then sell it to them to get at least SOME money back.

My xbox is fried so I can't really buy anything in the store worth using (I'll have to see if there's any t-shirts or some shit in there).

Anyway, I need help, what item should I buy so that I get a good trade in value when I sell it back? I was thinking maybe a GH controller, I usually get $10 for it. Can't think of anything else, can you guys?

Nothing for $20 is going to get good trade in value, especially if you take cash for it instead of store credit.

I would hold onto it until you can use it.

I don't have paypal or ebay, I am working on getting that, I have so much useless junk I never wear/use/or mess with.

Sell the card to someone for something less than what it's worth (or if possible, get a giftcard with it). Since it's got $20 on it, someone will probably be willing to buy it for $15-17 or so or maybe trade something for it.

Of course, since you're a noob, I don't know if anyone would trust you.

Yup, I wouldn't like dealing with a recently registered member. Just keep the credit and give it to someone for a birthday or spend it on some movies or miscellaneous crap they have at gamestop

Search and find a used Wavebird in good, working order.
Put in on craigs for $25 or best offer...and take $20

You don't have one friend, family member, or fellow gamer that would be willing to buy it from you for about $15??? I find this hard to believe.

OPTION 1: Craigslist the $20 card for $15, but who would take your word for it that it actually has $20 on it?

OPTION 2: Peddle it AT gamestop. When you see someone buying something for about $20, tell them your situation and offer to do the transaction for them, if they give you $15 in exchange for the item after you both leave the store together. This option may actually be a dual benefit (aside from it being slightly shady) as you might actually make your first friend in the transaction. Win, Win.

OPTION 3: combine 1&2: Craigslist the offer and meet them @ Gamestop so you'll already have your accomplice ready and willing to do the deed. Win, Win, Win.

can you buy something for $20 in credit and then return it for cash? I'm not sure how that would work.
